Ward 351 specializes in advanced colorectal care. We primarily care for patients with advanced colorectal cancer or inflammatory bowel disease. Several of the procedures and treatments performed here are offered by us as one of the few or the only unit in the country. We care for both patients who have undergone planned surgeries and those who have sought emergency care, which means that you as a nurse will have great opportunities for a varied workday.

About the job

As a nurse with us, you are responsible for the patients' care before and after surgery. We work in teams, and you will collaborate closely with nursing colleagues, nursing assistants, doctors, and other specialized functions.

To support the nursing staff's work on the ward, there are both advanced specialist nurses and senior nurses. The senior nurses act as a resource in care. They support new staff and assist with advanced nursing interventions. Our advanced specialist nurses ensure continuity of care and assist with advanced patient assessments.

As a new nurse with us, you will receive at least six weeks of orientation. We are committed to ensuring that you feel secure before you start working independently, and we always tailor the mentorship to your needs. The ward has a strong focus on development and learning, and we regularly hold lectures and training sessions for our staff. We have a good collaboration with the University of Gothenburg and other colleges in the region, and we offer our staff specialist training and relevant courses during working hours.

We place great emphasis on our employees' participation and well-being. Therefore, we have scheduled reflection sessions during working hours, and as a new nurse, you will be assigned a mentor who will follow you during your first year.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse. Previous experience in, or education in surgical care, IMA, ICU, or postoperative care is an advantage, but not a requirement.

As a person, you are engaged and curious. You are confident in your role and want to develop as a nurse. You have a solution-focused approach and can easily adapt to new situations. Furthermore, we value your willingness to contribute to the development of the organization. We will place great importance on personal suitability.

If you are a newly graduated nurse, you will be part of the Clinical Foundation Year, which is our introductory program. The Clinical Foundation Year is mandatory and lasts for the first year of your employment with us. It includes lectures, nursing supervision, and practical training of your profession at the Simulation Center. In addition, it also includes service in at least two different wards to broaden your competence.

In the event of recruiting nurses/doctors with foreign licenses/specialist certificates, the relevant position will be preceded by a process to meet the requirements for Swedish licenses/specialist certificates.
