Junior Controller

The Swedish Defence University is an internationally renowned institution in defense, crisis management, and security. We offer a unique academic environment where civilian meets military. We educate civilian and military leaders, experts, and researchers who will analyze and manage today's and future crisis situations and security issues. The Swedish Defence University trains Sweden's officers and leads the academic development of the officer profession. We conduct research in law with a focus on operational law and international law, defense systems, war science, leadership and management, military history, and political science.

About the workplace

The Planning and Finance Department is part of the operational support that coordinates the Swedish Defence University's cross-agency processes for planning, follow-up, reporting, environmental management, and performs the university's financial reporting. The Swedish Defence University manages various types of grants and has a significant amount of external funding, commissioned activities, and contributions. This means that the university's financial issues have a wide scope. The department is divided into an accounting, planning, and controller section. The Controller section is now looking for a Junior Controller based in Stockholm.

Job responsibilities

Your main responsibilities are to support the heads of institutions and project owners in the work with budgets, forecasts, follow-ups, quote calculations, grant management, and some financial administration. You will largely work in the support system Hypergene for budgeting and follow-up. Your tasks also include supporting the development and implementation of the university's processes for operational management and other tasks as needed.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who has:

• A university degree in economics or equivalent education or experience that we deem comparable
• Experience working with financial tasks
• Good knowledge of the Office suite, especially Excel
• Good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in both Swedish and English, as required in daily work

It is an advantage if you have experience in:

• Working with budgets, forecasts, and financial follow-ups
• Financial work in a government agency, preferably within the university or higher education sector
• Financial management of research grants
• Hypergene
• ERP (Agresso)

Personal qualities

We are looking for someone who is self-driven, takes responsibility for their tasks and their work forward. Additionally, you are structured, can plan and prioritize your work effectively. You have a positive attitude and find joy in providing good service to the university's managers and project leaders. As you will be working in a role with multiple contacts and in joint projects, we see that you have a good ability to collaborate. About the employment

The position is a permanent full-time employment that begins with a six-month probationary period.

Employment at the Swedish Defence University may involve a security review for placement in a security class, which includes a background check and, in some cases, a security interview with the Security Police.

The position may involve military placement. If you are already military placed in your current employment at an agency and your skills are needed in the Swedish Defence University's military organization, a negotiation will take place between the relevant agency and the Swedish Defence University regarding where you will be placed.
