JO is looking for legal experts

JO is seeking two or more court assessors from the Court of Appeal or Administrative Court for a fixed-term appointment for a six-year term.

JO's mission is to ensure that those who exercise public authority comply with laws and other regulations. The supervision is particularly focused on ensuring that the constitutional requirements for impartiality and objectivity are observed, as well as that individuals' fundamental rights and freedoms are respected. The primary purpose of JO's activities is to promote legal certainty in public administration. For more information about JO's activities, see www.jo.se.

We have about 90 employees, of which around 70 are lawyers. The organization is divided into four supervisory departments, a unit that supports the ombudsmen in their role as the national visiting authority, and an administrative department. Each supervisory department has two or three department heads responsible for their respective areas, about ten legal or subject matter experts, and two secretaries.

JO offers a varied and intellectually demanding job that involves qualified legal assessments. The work is independent, with individual responsibility for investigations in the cases handled. The tasks mainly consist of investigating complaints from the public and making decisions or proposals for decisions in these cases. It also includes participating in inspections of authorities and drafting opinions on legislative proposals.

The role of legal expert requires high legal competence, including very good analytical skills. You should be able to quickly identify legally relevant issues and have the ability to independently make necessary prioritizations while possessing a high level of performance. You should have excellent verbal and written communication skills. We expect all employees to consider the overall operation and actively contribute to its development.

About the employment: We offer a fixed-term appointment for six-year terms. The salary and benefits agreement for experts (specialists) and the Terms Agreement-T for the Parliamentary Administration apply to these positions. A prerequisite for employment is that you are on leave from the court.

The start date is to be agreed upon. The position is located in Stockholm in centrally located premises at Kungsträdgården.

JO aims to provide an attractive workplace that is free from discrimination and offers equal opportunities for all. When the operations allow, there is the possibility of remote work up to two days a week.

For inquiries about the position, please contact Deputy Secretary General Marcus Agnvall. Union representatives are available for SACO, Mattias Karlsson, and for ST, Lucie Andersson. They can be reached via the switchboard at 08-786 51 00.

Written expressions of interest, in Swedish, with a CV and the documents referenced must be received by February 3 at the latest by the Parliamentary Ombudsmen (JO), email address [email protected], or by post to the Parliamentary Ombudsmen, Box 16327, 103 26 Stockholm. Please quote the case number “ADM 48–2026” in your application.
