The Department of Political Science announces a position as a project assistant in the project Citizenship Industry: Power, Legitimacy, and Global Governance
Project Description
The research project “Citizenship Industry: Power, Legitimacy, and Global Governance” concerns the companies that work on behalf of states and clients regarding “citizenship-by-investment” (CBI).
CBI means that citizenship is obtained in exchange for investments, providing increased opportunities and conditions for the global elite. The project investigates the power that private companies exert in this, and the strategies they use to legitimize their operations.
Job Responsibilities
The main tasks consist of identifying, collecting, and systematizing empirical material about the CBI industry in several countries, including Turkey, and assisting in its analysis.
Requirements for the position are:
- Bachelor's degree in political science or another social science subject
- Completed courses in migration studies
- Previous work experience as a project assistant
- Good knowledge of Turkish
- Capacity for independent, careful, and systematic empirical work
Desirable qualifications for the position are:
- Familiarity with CBI in practice and as a research area.
Employment Conditions
The position starts no earlier than February 1, 2026. The employment is 50% and temporary for at least six months during 2026.

At the Department of Political Science at Lund University, you will be part of one of Europe’s leading research environments in political science. The Eden building, located in central Lund, offers an inspiring work environment with a unique combination of traditions and modern research. We have a high demand for our programs in political science, peace and conflict studies, and intelligence analysis with over 600 students per term.
