Job Responsibilities

Malmö Latin School is seeking a special educator with a strong commitment to students' learning, health, and development. The special educator's mission is to assist the school with special educational expertise at all organizational levels and to contribute to school development. The mission includes working towards a well-functioning student health service to support students' development towards educational goals. The main job responsibilities are to:

• Map students' and groups' needs
• Analyze the school's work in relation to students' learning
• Plan, implement, and evaluate interventions
• Coordinate the work with transitions for students starting and leaving the school
• Actively participate in educational research and use and disseminate research findings and methods to strengthen students' learning
• Guide and train educational staff and student assistants
• Participate in the school's student health teams
• Engage in the school's systematic quality work
• Participate in the cross-administrative network for special educational improvement work
• Document in Prorenata

Qualifications

Requirements:

• Degree in preschool education, teaching, or leisure pedagogy, as well as further training as a special educator (300 credits)
• Experience working with children and adolescents
• Experience working in national programs at upper secondary school
• Familiarity with external contacts and collaboration with staff, students, guardians, habilitation, child and adolescent psychiatry, and social services.
• Good digital competence
• Good insight into the school's goals and governing documents
• Proficient in Swedish, both spoken and written.

Meritorious:

• Good experience collaborating with other authorities and participating in various networks
• Experience working with children and adolescents with disabilities.

As a special educator, you handle complex issues and find sustainable pedagogical solutions. You have a good understanding of how people acquire knowledge and adapt your working methods to different needs. You are flexible, see opportunities in changes, and use new information to develop teaching. Through a relational and inclusive approach, you build trust and collaboration with students, colleagues, and other professionals. You value differences and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect oneself and others.
