Workplace Description
One to two positions as project assistants are available at the laboratory for Barrier Immunity (https://portal.research.lu.se/sv/organisations/barrier-immunity/) – a newly established research group interested in antibody formation and host-microbiota interactions at barrier surfaces. The project assistants hired through this announcement are expected to work alongside the principal investigator to build a strong and supportive research environment.

Job Responsibilities and Duties
The selected candidate is expected to provide organizational and technical research support to the laboratory. Very good knowledge of English, both spoken and written, is essential for this role.
The organizational tasks include effective and continuous management of laboratory work, ordering of reagents, management of the laboratory's research resources, and planning of experiments. The technical research support includes the ability to assist in immunological and microbiological research, including maintenance of bacterial cultures, mouse colonies, and work with in vivo and in vitro systems.
Requirements Profile
- Bachelor's degree (BSc) in biology or biomedicine with a focus on immunology and microbiology
- Full written and oral proficiency in English
- LAS certification (laboratory animal science): Ability to perform animal experiments
- Strategic and effective maintenance of mouse colonies
- Ability to perform microbiological techniques: Maintenance of aerobic and anaerobic bacterial cultures, Isolation of strains from human/mouse material, Sample preparation for 16S sequencing
- Ability to perform immunological techniques: Flow cytometry, ELISA/ELISPOT, Confocal microscopy
- Documented experience of working with human tissue cultures/samples.
Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities; the position requires demonstrated independence as well as strong problem-solving and collaboration skills.
Desirable for the Position:
- Master's degree (MSc) in biology or biomedicine with a focus on immunology and microbiology
- Experience in bioinformatics
- Experience in laboratory management: KLARA system (chemicals), Mosaic (management of mouse colonies), Proceedo (orders)
- Driving license (B)
Other
The position involves work with experimental animals.
The employment is a fixed-term position for 6 months at full-time (100%) starting from 2026-02-15 or by agreement. Interviews will be conducted on-site in Lund.
