We are now looking for engaged and competent teaching assistants for our newly built adapted primary school, where every detail is designed to meet the needs of the students. Here you will have the chance to influence, develop, and make a real difference – every day. Skurup Municipality's adapted primary school is a newly started operation that will move into its own premises in the autumn of 2026. We will teach approximately 20 students in grades 1–9 within subject and subject-oriented adapted primary school. Our team consists of special educators, teaching assistants, and leisure educators – all with a common goal: to create an accessible, individualized, and inspiring learning environment where every student has the opportunity to grow based on their abilities.

The school will offer modern, accessible, and pedagogical learning environments. With a clear structure and a holistic perspective, we create a safe and developing school environment where every employee has a significant role in the students' learning and well-being.

The adapted primary school with an associated leisure center will offer both subject and subject area orientations. Teaching will be organized in teams with special educators, leisure educators, and teaching assistants, where students meet in flexible teaching groups, composed based on age, individual needs, and cognitive conditions. This gives each student the best possible conditions for learning, development, and safety.

Our school is a newly opened initiative with state-of-the-art facilities, adapted learning environments, and a strong focus on inclusive teaching. We work interdisciplinary and with a clear structure to create safety and learning for students with different functional variations.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a teaching assistant in the adapted primary school and leisure center, you will:

• Support students in lessons, during breaks, in the leisure center, and during transitions throughout the day.
• Actively participate in all types of teaching, including swimming and physical education, and go on excursions.
• Need to be adaptable, read, and follow the students' needs in the moment.
• Handle challenging behavior with a low-arousal approach.
• Act as a spokesperson between the student and the environment during the school day and leisure center activities when needed.
• Assist and support with personal care such as toilet visits, dressing and undressing, meal situations, which may involve lifting the student.
• Perform self-care tasks that may involve administering emergency medication, tube feeding, and managing catheters.
• Work closely with teachers and the student health team to create safety and continuity.
• Contribute to ensuring that students feel seen, involved, and motivated.
• Be involved in planning, documentation, and evaluation of the pedagogical work.
• Collaborate with colleagues in daily work around students' needs.
• Work towards good collaboration between school, leisure center, and home.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who:

• Has an education as a childcare worker, teaching assistant, support educator, or equivalent education.
• Has experience working with children and young people with intellectual disabilities and NPF, as well as competence in AAC.
• Has previous experience in self-care and personal care.
• Has a good ability to create relationships and work in a low-arousal manner.
• Is structured, responsible, and confident in your professional role.
• Has experience working with teaching in schools and leisure centers.
• Can document, plan, and evaluate together with educators.
• Has an interest in building and collaborating with colleagues in a team.
• Wants to help build an operation where every student can succeed.
• Experience working in an adapted primary school is highly meritorious.
