Environmental and Health Protection Inspector at the Defense Inspectorate for Health and Environment

Do you have expertise and experience in the Environmental Code and want to work with supervision of environmentally and health hazardous activities of varying nature? Then there is a unique opportunity to try working with exciting supervision within the Defense Sector. The Defense Inspectorate for Health and Environment is looking for an Environmental and Health Protection Inspector to be based at the Swedish Armed Forces Headquarters in Stockholm. Together with a team of ten inspectors, you will help develop methods for effective supervision in connection with the Armed Forces' growth. We offer you varied tasks, good opportunities for professional development, and three hours of training during work hours each week.

About the Defense Inspectorate for Health and Environment

The Defense Inspectorate for Health and Environment conducts supervision within the Armed Forces, the Fortifications Agency, the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration, and the Swedish Defence Radio Agency. We are responsible for supervision over environmental and health protection, healthcare, infection control, as well as public control of food, animal by-products, feed, and animal welfare within the Armed Forces. When the Defense Inspectorate for Health and Environment exercises supervision and control, the inspector is not subordinate to the Supreme Commander.

Main Responsibilities

You will be part of the department's environmental and health protection section and will conduct supervision according to the Environmental Code. Your tasks will include supervision visits to defense sector facilities and operations, followed by report writing, review of incoming environmental and refrigerant reports, handling of notification cases and complaints. Since supervision is conducted throughout Sweden, travel is included in the position.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • Degree from a multi-year, relevant scientific academic education
  • Good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish
  • Good knowledge of MS Office
  • Driver's license

You are experienced and confident in yourself and your professional role, and you have a good ability to work effectively, both independently and in a team. You are meticulous and have good analytical and administrative skills. You are accustomed to and have a good ability to meet people in different environments. DESIRABLE

  • A couple of years of current and relevant work experience in supervision according to the Environmental Code
  • Current and relevant work experience from a government agency, municipality, or other public sector

At the Headquarters, the Supreme Commander and the Director General are located. The Headquarters has approximately 1,000 employees – both professional officers and civilian experts. From 2023-01-01, the Headquarters consists of the Defense Staff, Operations Management, Military Intelligence and Security Service, as well as the Headquarters' Staff Department and independent units for supervision.

Employment with us means placement in a security class. Usually, Swedish citizenship is required. A security check with a register review will be conducted before employment in accordance with Chapter 3 of the Security Protection Act. Employment entails an obligation to be placed in a war situation. The implications of this vary depending on the type of position.
