Water Coordinator for the Department of Urban Development

We are looking for a water coordinator for the department of urban development.

We need you, who together with dedicated colleagues, want to continue the work of achieving sustainable water management within the municipality's areas of responsibility. The position as a water coordinator is placed within the strategic group at the urban planning unit. You report to the strategic manager who also leads comprehensive planners, environmental and water planners, ecologists, and other expert and project management roles within the environmental and climate area. The department also has a stormwater coordinator.

The role of the water coordinator involves creating support and impact for the municipality's water issues. You will work strategically with the municipality's lakes, watercourses, groundwater, and seawater, as well as with technical waters (storm, wastewater, and drinking water) within the municipality's area of responsibility. The water coordinator is responsible for developing plans, work support, and measures that form the basis for the municipality group's water work. The work is based on legal requirements and the municipality's ambitions in the water area. The water coordinator is also the municipality's spokesperson on water issues and is responsible for environmental monitoring, external collaborations, and agency dialogues.

In your role, you are a specialist in water issues. You have several colleagues with complementary specialist knowledge, including your colleagues in water and supervision, but you also have the opportunity to easily call for consultant support. The role requires broad collaboration both within the municipality and with external parties.

Examples of specific tasks included in the role:

Internal water strategic work.
Responsibility for the municipality's commitments within inter-municipal water groups.
Internal support within the urban development department's projects.
Handling of surveys, referrals, and political decisions in the water area.
Participation in ongoing digitalization work within the department.

Qualifications:

We are looking for someone with a relevant university education in the water area or equivalent work experience. You have several years of work experience in a relevant field and are confident in your professional role. You need to have a good ability to express yourself well in Swedish, both verbally and in writing. You need to be proficient in working with both natural waters and technical waters.

It is advantageous if you have experience in project management and work in the municipal sector, preferably in urban development. Experience in water environmental monitoring, impact analysis, and action planning is an advantage. Knowledge of GIS is also advantageous as we constantly strive to develop digitalization within the department. Knowledge of the Planning and Building Act, the Environmental Code, the Public Procurement Act, and Swedish water management is an advantage.

To succeed in your role, you need to be receptive and curious about your colleagues' perspectives and be solution-oriented. You need to have good collaboration skills and initiative, be quality-conscious, structured, and have a high commitment to water issues and sustainable urban development. Since the role involves working on multifaceted issues in several parallel projects, you need to have an analytical work approach, plan, organize, and prioritize work efficiently to succeed in your role.
