Defense Medicine Center
The Defense Medicine Center (FömedC) is the Swedish Armed Forces' center for the function of defense medicine, located in Gothenburg. FömedC consists of a management with staff, the Armed Forces Combat School for Defense Medicine (FSS), the Functional Unit (FunkE), and the Hospital Battalion (Sjhbat).
In the Hospital Battalion, there is a battalion command, a command and support company, a field hospital company, a training company, as well as the 1st and 2nd hospital companies. The personnel categories present in the unit include medical personnel, officers, specialist officers, soldiers, and conscripts. The battalion produces and operates as the Armed Forces' operational field hospital unit. This includes operational capability both nationally and internationally, with an emphasis on command, logistics, and healthcare. The unit conducts conscription training for 140 soldiers in command, logistics, and medical transport.
About the Position
As the Deputy Company Commander, you are the closest support and substitute for the Company Commander. You play a central role in planning, executing, and following up on the company's activities. The position entails both operational and administrative responsibilities and requires good collaboration skills with other parts of the battalion.
Main Responsibilities
- Support and substitute the Company Commander as needed
- Lead and coordinate the company's daily operations
- Plan, execute, and follow up on training and exercises
- Contribute to the development of routines, personnel, and equipment
- Ensure that the company maintains high readiness and quality
- Participate in battalion leadership and staff duties as needed
The unit consists of a mix of different professions and employment forms, which requires you as the Deputy Company Commander to be attentive to the needs of the various personnel categories. The ability to lead through mission tactics and inspire commanders and colleagues around you is a prerequisite for being an effective leader in the unit.
All companies in the battalion are growing to varying degrees, which means that there are different types of development work for each company.
Qualifications
- Swedish citizen
- Officer OF1-2
- Driving license B
- Approved medical examination and basic requirements according to FM FysS.
- Previous experience of personnel responsibility
Meritorious
- Previous service as Deputy Company Commander or Platoon Commander
- Background in Defense Medicine, logistics, or command
- Completed staff training
- Served in an international staff
Personal Qualities
We are looking for someone who is curious about new things and has a desire to develop these in consultation with others. Furthermore, you are stimulated by challenges, have a high work capacity, and the ability to work both independently and in a group. We value a humble approach and the ability to quickly adapt to new conditions and tasks. For example, you should easily be able to act as a bridge between personnel from civilian authorities and representatives of the armed forces. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

The employment entails a military placement in the Hospital Battalion.
