About the Unit

The Garnison Unit (GarnE) at Amf4 is primarily a supporting unit for other units within the Gothenburg garrison. As the Machinery Service Chief at the Equipment Section, you will be part of the Training and Support Division (UtbstödA) within GarnE, based in Gothenburg Käringberget.

Main Responsibilities

The overarching tasks involve the operation and maintenance of our boats. The unit has a fleet with various types of boats, including a base transport boat, combat boats, and several smaller motorboats. As MtjC, you will plan and perform preventive and corrective maintenance on our boats. You will also work with material management of our assigned equipment in System PRIO and serve as MtjC onboard the base transport boat at sea.

The tasks require a high degree of independence and social competence. The role also entails responsibility for the operations within your organization and ensuring that the activities conducted comply with applicable legislation and regulations issued by the Armed Forces.

You should be prepared to participate in and support unit exercises while keeping the needs of the units in focus. Some documentation preparation, administration of booking systems, and follow-up are natural parts of the job.

Requirements

  • Approved specialist officer exam, at least OR 6
  • Driving license B
  • Meet FM physical requirements (approved within 6 months)
  • Machine qualification at least M7
  • Approved medical examination for seagoing personnel

Meritorious

  • Driving licenses C, BE, CE
  • Operator certificates (e.g., ATV, wheel loader, Ltgb, L-car, crane operator certificate, etc.)
  • Trained in the Work Environment Act (MARA)/FM Better Work Environment
  • Experience in Boat and Vessel Service
  • Experience in leading and planning maintenance and inspections on boats/vessels
  • CRM and maritime safety course for unit/vessel leadership

  • Employment type: Permanent. The Armed Forces applies a six-month probationary period for those who are not employed by the authority.

  • Work location: Gothenburg. Travel in service occurs, primarily within Sweden. Since operations may take place outside regular working hours, working hours may be shifted to evenings/nights and weekends.
