The Sámi School Board is a government authority with its office including a school principal, controllers, HR, and administrators in Jåhkåmåhkke.

The Sámi school is an educational form equivalent to primary school, providing education from preschool class to grade 6. The starting point for the education is the Sámi culture and the Sámi language according to the curriculum for the Sámi school. The Sámi School Board also operates preschools in agreement with the respective municipality. The Sámi School Board has activities in Giron, Gárasavvon, Váhtjer, Jåhkåmåhkke, and Dearna.

The Sámi School Board organizes distance education in the Sámi languages and supports the development and production of teaching materials for Sámi education.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Plan, implement, and evaluate teaching in accordance with preschool governing documents and from the Sámi perspective, both individually and in teams. You actively participate in developing successful learning environments together with others at the preschool. You will also participate in other work at the preschool with the staff. As a preschool teacher, you are responsible for the educational activities. We are looking for someone who is easy to collaborate with, responsible, positive, and always prioritizes the children's best interests. We see that you are curious, attentive, interested, and flexible. You are engaged and have a respectful approach in your interactions with children, parents, and colleagues. We place great importance on personal suitability as we are a small preschool where we depend on each other and a functioning collaboration. Since we spend a lot of time outdoors in forests and fields and utilize the outdoor environments in our vicinity, you need to be able to work independently and navigate the various terrains we are in satisfactorily. The age of the children is 1-5 years, and they are very active, so it is important to be able to work independently.

QUALIFICATIONS

Preschool teacher degree with a valid teaching license, or other education deemed suitable by the employer. You are proficient in Sámi, both orally and in writing. You have a positive view of people and the ability to create good relationships as well as the ability to prevent and resolve conflicts. You are meticulous, flexible, and attentive to the needs of the students and enjoy working with children and young people.
