University Lecturer in AI and Machine Learning for Battery Research

Luleå University of Technology is experiencing strong growth with world-leading expertise in several research areas. We shape the future through innovative education and groundbreaking research results, and based on the Arctic region, we create global societal benefits. Our scientific and artistic research and education are conducted in close collaboration with international, national, and regional companies, public actors, and leading universities. Luleå University of Technology has a total turnover of nearly 2.1 billion SEK per year. We currently have 1,900 employees and 18,700 students.

In the coming years, billions of SEK will be invested in Norrbotten and Västerbotten in large projects aimed at a more sustainable society both nationally and globally. Luleå University of Technology is involved in several of these highly relevant research projects and the societal transformation that follows. We have a wide range of educational programs to match the skills that are in demand. We hope you will help us build the sustainable companies and societies of the future.

Luleå University of Technology is one of Sweden's leading universities in machine learning, particularly deep learning, with a high concentration of ELLIS researchers (European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems) as well as unique laboratories for field robotics, deep learning, and human-computer interaction. Furthermore, LTU is Sweden's leading university in industrial collaboration.

The Machine Learning (ML) subject at the Department of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, and Space Technology at Luleå University of Technology is now seeking outstanding researchers who can contribute to our growing activities. The ML group conducts fundamental research in machine learning for the benefit of society, with a particular focus on self-supervised learning, brain signal analysis, and industrial AI.

The ML group is part of the Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Program (WASP). WASP is Sweden's largest single research program to date and a major national investment in strategically motivated basic research, education, and faculty recruitment. The program is also part of the newly established research center RECAT, which focuses on battery research and building leading interdisciplinary expertise in Sweden.

To strengthen our activities in AI for battery research, we are now recruiting an outstanding researcher in AI and machine learning for battery research, with a particular focus on:

  • Fundamental aspects of AI/ML methods for battery research
  • Natural language processing and technical language processing for applications relevant to the battery industry
  • Collaborating with other researchers within the center to establish excellent educational activities
