Your Role

One of the Swedish Food Agency's missions is to facilitate food entrepreneurs in doing the right thing and to meet businesses in a good and purposeful way.

Ask Us is one of the Swedish Food Agency's most important forums for meeting and supporting companies and professional groups within care and welfare. The function includes both a telephone service where entrepreneurs and the public can call and a question forum where they can write their questions and communicate with us.

Common questions in Ask Us concern food information, imports, and how to start a food business. We also receive many questions about drinking water, food safety, and primary production. The public's questions often relate to our dietary advice, food allergies, food toxicology, and food microbiology.

You will be part of a working group of four people who together are responsible for ensuring that all questions receive a good answer. The group also works to develop methods, handle statistics, and conduct environmental monitoring.

Together with the working group, you will be responsible for:

• Guiding food entrepreneurs and the public both in writing and verbally so they can find the right information on the Swedish Food Agency's website.
• Administering the question forum according to established routines and coordinating questions to other case handlers at the Swedish Food Agency.
• Developing technology, methods, and service levels based on the needs of businesses.
• Conducting structured environmental monitoring, including analyzing statistics and detecting deviating trends.
• Maintaining and initiating collaboration with other working groups at the Swedish Food Agency.

The Food Hygiene Unit

You will be part of the working group for Ask Us and in addition have 11 colleagues in the Food Hygiene Unit. The unit develops guidelines in the area of food hygiene. We are also responsible for developing measures and knowledge support regarding microbiological risks in food. The unit coordinates Sweden's work on warnings about unsafe food (RASFF) and is responsible for the Swedish Food Agency's infection control work. Additionally, we are responsible for coordinating, developing, and managing parts of the Swedish Food Agency's communication channels – Kontrollwiki, Ask Us, and the Education Portal.

Your Competence

We are looking for someone with a university or college degree, preferably with a natural science orientation, or who the employer deems relevant. You have good knowledge of food legislation, basic hygiene and labeling legislation (178/2002, 853/2004, 852/2004, and 1169/2011) and have relevant experience from working in food businesses or from public control of food businesses.

You have the ability to communicate clearly and simply, and you enjoy providing good service with a professional approach. Experience or understanding of how to start and run a food business is an advantage, as is experience working with food information or food imports. Experience and a good understanding of the Swedish Food Agency's dietary advice, allergies, and food microbiology are also advantageous. Previous experience in customer service and public authority work is also a plus. You must have good language skills in both Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
