Job Advertisement: Teaching Assistant for Framtidsklubben GRO

The Department of Earth Sciences is Sweden's largest and broadest institution of its kind with a unique breadth and approximately 300 employees.

Our activities are interdisciplinary, combining natural sciences and engineering with social sciences. We have research programs in air, water, and landscape studies; geophysics; natural resources and sustainable development; mineralogy, petrology, and tectonics; paleobiology and wind energy. By studying the Earth's history, we understand how the planet has developed and how our pursuit of sustainable development can benefit from this knowledge.

The Centre for Environment and Development Studies, CEMUS, has been conducting student-driven education in the broad and interdisciplinary field of environment and sustainability since its inception in 1992. Read more about our educational model and our courses at CEMUS (https://www.cemus.uu.se).

The Future Club GRO, which is a collaboration between CEMUS and Uppsala Municipality, provides school students in Uppsala with opportunities for in-depth understanding and discussions about sustainable development in a creative after-school club. The project targets students in grades 4-9 with special talents and an interest in sustainability issues. Through various exercises, interactive lectures, discussions, role-playing, and workshops, these students get the chance to deepen their knowledge together with other students from different schools in Uppsala Municipality.

We are looking for four students to hire as teaching assistants for the academic year 2025-2026 to work as after-school club leaders, planning and conducting sessions for grades 4-6 (two leaders) and grades 7-9 (two leaders). Grades 4-6 meet on Wednesdays from 16:30 to 18:00, and grades 7-9 meet from 18:15 to 19:45, totaling 9 sessions per term per grade. As a teaching assistant, you are a student working part-time in combination with your studies.

The operation is called Future Club GRO and started in the spring term of 2019 with great interest and engagement from Uppsala's primary school students.
