Researcher at 80% for Qualitative and Quantitative Research on Mental Health
Uppsala University (https://www.uu.se/institution/psykologi/) is part of the Faculty of Social Sciences at Uppsala University. The department has several successful research groups conducting research in various areas of psychology.
The current position is linked to Professor Anne H Berman's group, which investigates mental health and illness among university students and evaluates internet-based treatment for those with symptoms of mild to moderate depression or anxiety. The current position is funded by an external research grant from the Public Health Agency of Sweden.
Responsibilities
We are looking for a motivated researcher with a background in psychology and expertise in qualitative and quantitative analysis methods. The person who takes on the role will plan and lead the collection and compilation of data on various forms of mental health and illness among university students, using qualitative and quantitative methods. The results will be reported in the form of three Swedish-language reports to the client.
Qualifications
To qualify for the position, you must have a PhD in psychology. The position is primarily aimed at researchers who have obtained their PhD within the last eight years. If there are special reasons, the degree may be older than eight years. Special reasons include leave due to illness, parental leave, or trust assignments within trade unions, etc. For this position, documented experience of relevant research in the field is required, such as stakeholders' perspectives on students' needs for help and support regarding mental health, students' perceptions of support and help for mental health, and survey studies on students' mental health and feedback to survey respondents.
Desirable/meritorious
Documented experience of independent research in mental health and internet treatment for young adults and university students, including project management. Experience with intervention studies at national and international levels, as well as the development and implementation of internet treatment programs. Experience with one or more qualitative analysis methods regarding larger and smaller datasets. In terms of quantitative research, experience working with large datasets and analyzing data from studies with multiple follow-ups over time. Knowledge of analyses using SPSS and/or R, as well as qualitative analysis programs. Experience in reporting commissioned research in the form of Swedish-language reports to the client.

About the position
The position is permanent. The scope is 80%. Start date February 1, 2026, or by agreement. Location: Uppsala.
