The Administrative Court of Appeal in Stockholm is the largest of Sweden's four administrative courts and is also the country's Migration Court of Appeal. The court has about 200 employees, of which about 130 are lawyers, including approximately 60 permanent judges.

The organization consists of four adjudicating departments, one case administrative department, and one administrative unit.

The court handles approximately 600 different types of cases, with the most common cases relating to migration, social insurance, and tax law. The court continuously develops its working methods to meet citizens' demands for legal certainty, efficiency, transparency, and accessibility.

Role Description for Legal Clerk

As a legal clerk, you will have the opportunity to gain broad and in-depth knowledge in the areas of law that occur at the court. The court is looking for legal clerks who want to work with qualified legal matters at the appellate level. As a legal clerk, you will prepare cases, conduct legal research, and draft proposals for judgments and decisions. You will present cases for decisions and take notes during oral hearings. You will stay updated and informed about issues related to current areas of law and contribute to the court's operational development.

As a legal clerk at the court, you will receive relevant training and continuous professional development by handling and discussing the many issues that arise in the court's diverse case types. You will work closely and collaboratively with other legal clerks and experienced judges. There is an opportunity for remote work one day a week.

Qualifications

You should have a law degree and be certified as a trainee lawyer, with the certification preferably completed by April 30, 2025, or have at least two years of experience in other legal work within the court system. You should have good legal knowledge, strong analytical skills, and good judgment. It is important that you can express yourself well in both speech and writing. You should also be meticulous and able to plan, organize, and prioritize your tasks. It is crucial that you enjoy collaborating and contributing from an employee perspective.

In addition to court experience, good knowledge in the areas of tax, migration, and social insurance is advantageous, as well as experience working in an administrative authority where these areas of law are handled.
