For a Risk Expert role:
You will collaborate with skilled professionals on regulatory, governance, and strategic projects related to internal models and data management at the largest bank in the Nordics.
About our team
Our role – in Risk Models is to lead complex regulatory-based changes and initiatives to secure deliveries according to planned timelines and secure Nordea’s place as the leading Nordic bank.
Collaboration. Ownership. Passion. Courage. These are the values that guide us in how we work and how we make decisions – and that we imagine you share with us.
Main responsibilities in this role as Project Leader:
- Be a driver of creating & quality assuring Project Management Office reporting material to the most senior Nordea Bank stakeholders.
- Workstream management – you will drive one of the key programme workstreams incl. quarterly reporting to the European Central Bank (ECB).
- Independently plan, scope, structure and key milestones and/or play a key role in coordinating cross-departmental outcomes.
- Manage stakeholders on all organizational levels effectively and confident in presenting plans, progress and results to Steering Committees, Programme Forums and other wider audiences.
- Deliver well-structured, high-quality work through utilizing subject matter experts, creative problem-solving, understanding stakeholder needs and dependencies, as well as strong facilitation skills to remove obstacles.
- Act as first line of escalation and be a natural owner of stakeholder dialogues, ensuring that outcomes are logged, tracked and followed up upon.
- Ensure risks and interdependencies are identified, reported, owned and managed throughout the execution lifecycle as well as clarifying and standardizing procedures across the value chain.
Main responsibilities in this role as Risk Expert:
- Serve as a subject matter expert on IRB credit risk models and regulatory models for counterparty and market risk (including VaR, EEPE, CVA, FRTB).
- Monitor EU and Nordic regulatory developments and assess their impact on Nordea’s models.
- Coordinate supervisory interactions related to IRB models.
- Support the development of projects and engage with internal stakeholders.
- Maintain and enhance governance frameworks, including policies, controls, and documentation.
- Advise on regulatory expectations and support group-level regulatory interpretation.
- Depending on your experience, you may also advise on regulatory interpretation, design governance frameworks, draft communications to regulators, and assess the materiality of model changes.
Common for both roles:
The role is based preferably in Denmark and/or Finland – and we expect that you are already based close to any existing location with a main Nordea office.
We are seeking an individual with the following qualifications:
For Project Leader Role:
- Ambitious, self-driven & structured likely with 2-4 years of professional experience and looking to grow your network and skillset.
- Previous experience in either programme management/PMO activities, management consulting or a similar toolbox including flair for executive reporting.
- Knowledge about data and/or risk management is an advantage but not a must.
For Risk Expert Role:
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in banking, regulatory, or consulting roles is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of IRB or other internal models (IMA, IMM) and related regulations.
Common skills:
- Analytical skills and ability to deal with complex issues and bring logical problem-solving to the front, while not afraid to lift activities on your own.
- Strong ability to proactively interact with key stakeholders throughout the value chain.
- Great communication, presentation and facilitation skills.
- Written and spoken English on a superior level – as interaction is expected with external regulators and the seniormost levels of Nordea.
- Proficiency in MS Office, Excel and PowerPoint skills at a superior level.
