Lund Waldorf School is seeking an engaged and knowledgeable teacher in social studies subjects for teaching grades 7–9. The position includes one or more of the following subjects: social studies, history, geography, and religion, with a workload of 65%.
We are looking for someone who wants to work based on the holistic view of learning and humanity in Waldorf pedagogy, where teaching is shaped in accordance with the students' maturity, questions, and developmental needs. Through lively storytelling, ethical discussions, creative expressions, and interdisciplinary themes, we create teaching that inspires both thinking and compassion.
About the teaching in social studies grades 7–9
The social studies teaching at our school is based on both Lgr22 and the developmental pedagogy of Waldorf schools, where each grade encounters themes adapted to the students' age and maturity.
Below are examples of content and themes we work with in the different grades – however, the teaching is broader than this and is dynamically adapted to the student group, current events, and pedagogical opportunities:
Grade 7
- Students delve into the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, and exploration. In social studies, democracy, living standards, and people's living conditions globally are introduced. In geography, we work with Africa, China, Japan, and South and Central America, where students develop an understanding of climate, culture, and human conditions in different parts of the world.
Grade 8
- The teaching covers themes such as the Reformation (Martin Luther), revolutions, industrialization, as well as the history of the slave trade, Abrahamic religions, and their role in society. We also work with human rights and how historical events affect today's society.
Grade 9
- The focus includes World War I and II, the Cold War, ideologies, as well as the emergence of democracy, the history of voting rights, and the impact of racial biology in Sweden and Europe. In religious studies, we address Hinduism, Buddhism, and questions of worldview from a global perspective.
As part of Waldorf pedagogy, students actively work with period books, where they document and process the content of the subject periods with both text and images. This strengthens subject understanding and encourages personal and creative learning.

- Plan, implement, and evaluate teaching based on Lgr22 and the didactic principles of Waldorf pedagogy.

- Adapt teaching according to students' different levels of maturity, needs, and learning styles.
- Assess and document knowledge development in accordance with national requirements.
- Participate in work teams and contribute to a lively, safe, and developing school environment.

- Experience teaching at the secondary level.
- Understanding of and experience working with students with neurodevelopmental disorders.
- A lively interest in youth development, human rights, social issues, and cultural history.
