Support Assistant/Residential Support Worker

Your new job

As a support assistant or residential support worker, your work consists of everyday tasks where you continuously support and develop the citizen in their pursuit of living an independent life. This includes everything from social support to personal care, medication management, activities, and household tasks where the citizen influences their daily life through participation. Communication and collaboration take place with relatives and representatives, colleagues, supervisors, and other professionals such as health care, employment/occupational services, and authorities. In your work with the citizen, you will work health-promoting and motivating. It includes actively working with social documentation, implementation plans, and contact person assignments; other tasks may also occur and change over time.

Your qualifications

Completed high school program in child and leisure with a focus on social/pedagogical work
Completed high school program in health and care/assistant nurse with specialization in functional disability/psychiatry.
Alternatively, other education that the employer assesses as equivalent.

For the position of residential support worker, a B driver's license for manual transmission is required. For work in our group homes or service apartments, having a B driver's license is considered advantageous.

For both roles, it is advantageous if you have previously worked with the target group and used digital work tools. For the role of support educator, it is required that you have previously worked with the target group. You should also master Swedish in speech, writing, and reading comprehension as there will be contact with citizens, relatives, documentation, and reading information related to the work.

Personal abilities and competencies

Personal maturity is highly valued as it helps you understand situations the individual may find themselves in. You are flexible and see opportunities in changes, quickly adapting as needed. You take responsibility, structure, and prioritize your tasks independently but also function well in a team, where you have a lot of contact with colleagues, citizens, and other professionals. Building and maintaining relationships through attentiveness and good communication is important to you. You have a pedagogical approach in your communication with citizens and can handle difficult situations professionally while maintaining faith in people's ability to change and develop.

The Social Psychiatry and Residential Support area works with individuals aged 16 and up who have some form of mental, neuropsychiatric, and/or intellectual disabilities. Our group homes, service apartments, meeting points, and residential support teams are located throughout Jönköping Municipality.
