The registry unit supports the appellate court's adjudicative departments with case management. Here at the registry, three registrars and 16 court administrators work, led by a head of administration. We are a unit where laughter is always close at hand, with secure and experienced colleagues who help each other and share knowledge in a humble manner.
Göta Court of Appeal is one of six courts of appeal in Sweden, and our main task is to review cases and matters that are appealed from the district court. Our workplace is characterized by an open and welcoming atmosphere with a total of about 110 employees. After nearly 400 years of operation in historic premises at Hovrättstorget, we are now conducting our operations in a brand new court building by the shore of Munksjön in central Jönköping.
To ensure an inclusive and fair recruitment process, the Swedish Courts apply competency-based recruitment. Our selection is based on candidates' competencies and merits. We kindly but firmly request no direct contact with staffing and recruitment companies or sellers of additional job advertisements.
Do you want to contribute to the rule of law?
Every day, hundreds of cases and matters are decided in courts across Sweden. Our court consists of employees with various competencies who collaborate in the significant work of upholding a democratic and legally secure society.
With an increased influx of cases, our organization is growing. Therefore, we need to expand our registry unit and are looking for one or more new colleagues who want to work as court administrators with us. We believe that you are a person who wants a varied and responsible job in a socially important and exciting operation.
About the job
As a court administrator, you have a central and important role as you contribute to ensuring that the court's various cases are processed in a legally secure and efficient manner. The work is independent while you will be part of a close team with other court administrators and registrars in the unit. This means that you need to have good self-leadership while enjoying collaboration with colleagues.
You will be assigned and responsible for cases in the court of appeal, from the moment they arrive until they are resolved. This means that you will have daily contact with parties, lawyers, and prosecutors, as well as managing the processing of the cases. For example, you will handle correspondence, plan and summon for hearings, and issue judgments and decisions. The administrator's job is the hub of the operation and is carried out in close cooperation with the court's lawyers. The work is largely governed by routines and requires you to quickly switch between different tasks.
The position may also include registrar duties such as registering and classifying incoming cases and handling appeals to the Supreme Court.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has at least completed a high school diploma. It is advantageous if you have relevant post-secondary/academic education. It is also beneficial if you have work experience from a court or another authority. You have good computer skills as working in various IT systems will be a fundamental part of your workday.
We will place great emphasis on your personal qualities. The role of court administrator requires you to be meticulous and structured with good judgment and a strong sense of responsibility. Your ability to prioritize and quickly adapt to changing circumstances will be valuable. You enjoy handling various tasks simultaneously and occasionally working at a fast pace. You have good social and communication skills, as well as a well-developed sense of service and good manners. Since you will have many internal as well as external contacts, a very good ability to express yourself well in speech and writing is required. Of course, you want to contribute to our good working environment.
To be considered for employment, you must meet high standards regarding judgment, security awareness, and suitability. This means that you stand up for democratic values and the governmental values that guide the operations of the Swedish Courts. We require that you comply with applicable laws.
