Research Assistant in Health Economics

Uppsala Health Economics (UHE) is a specialized unit of health economists within Social Medicine/CHAP (Child Health and Parenting) - group at the Department of Public Health and Caring Sciences, Uppsala University. Our team has expertise in applying health economic methods in health areas, including RCT-based and model-based economic evaluations of various interventions, as well as using register data to evaluate health and economic effects of healthcare interventions. Our health economists lead several projects in various fields, including mental health, child health, public health, precision medicine, and innovation in healthcare. We collaborate with clinics to achieve the best possible outcomes. The group has several national and international partners and engages in commissioned work for various healthcare providers, municipalities, regions, and foundations.

Job Responsibilities

We are looking for a health economist/research assistant to work on the following projects:

• Health economic evaluations of interventions in mental health and child health
• Economic burden of mental ill health
• Health economic evaluations of various innovation and care development projects

The projects require knowledge in health economics, statistics, econometrics, and epidemiology. The job responsibilities include analyzing data from both clinical studies and Swedish registers regarding consumption of societal resources, costs, and health outcome data, as well as calculating the cost-effectiveness of various interventions.

Qualifications

The applicant should have a master's degree in health economics or another relevant subject. The candidate should master statistical analyses, be able to learn new research methods, and have strong abilities to express themselves both verbally and in writing. Furthermore, it is important to be able to work in a team and demonstrate creativity in solving research questions. We place particular emphasis on the ability to communicate in spoken and written English.

Desirable/meritorious

Experience in research projects and experience working with STATA and/or R is meritorious. Basic knowledge of Swedish is desirable.

About the Employment

The employment is temporary, 12 months. The extent is full-time/100%. Start date 2025-03-01 or by agreement. Place of employment: Uppsala
