The Finance Unit
The Finance Unit is tasked with leading, coordinating, and developing the municipality's financial and operational management as well as handling the financial administration for the municipal executive board.
The Workplace
You will be part of the municipal executive board's administration, directly reporting to the accounting manager. The unit consists of both accountants and financial assistants. Together with your colleagues, you will provide support and service to the entire municipality in accounting matters related to both operations and investments. The position of accounting manager is a newly established role where you will have great opportunities to develop and ensure the quality of processes within the accounting area.
The municipal executive board leads and coordinates the administration of the municipality's affairs and oversees the activities of other committees.
The task of the municipal executive board's administration is to assist the executive board with leadership and governance as well as support and service in overarching and strategic issues such as finance, administration, personnel, procurement, IT, communication, security, business, and planning and development.
The municipality's gross turnover amounts to just over 2.1 billion SEK and has a substantial investment budget.
Job Responsibilities
You have a key role and overall responsibility for leading and developing processes within accounting. You are responsible for ensuring that the municipality's accounting is accurate and complies with laws, guidelines, and recommendations. Your tasks include compiling and ensuring correct interim and annual financial statements as well as consolidated financial statements. You will be the municipality's expert in accounting matters and therefore a natural discussion partner and support in these issues. You are expected to develop working methods and processes within the accounting area and participate in various projects. The role of accounting manager also includes coordinating the work of reporting statistics, development accounting, and liaising with external parties such as auditors, the tax agency regarding VAT and tax issues, and various authorities.
You will also be part of the municipality's financial network with central economists and administrative economists from the municipality's four administrations. The network collaborates on various financial issues, such as internal control, and meets regularly throughout the year. The accounting manager is also part of the financial network.
Qualifications
You have a financial background with a university or college degree in finance. You have several years of experience in similar work within municipal operations. You have previously worked in a politically governed organization and have experience in municipal accounting work. You are analytical, structured, communicative, and have a consultative approach. You have integrity and the ability to build good relationships and trust.
