Business Description

Sjöpark School is the only municipal middle school in Gällivare Municipality located in the urban area, next to Sjöparken and Isborgen, the municipal ice arena. The school has approximately 410 students and about 55 staff members. The school has recently been renovated to meet the requirements for a middle school and is modern in its design. The school focuses heavily on creating good learning environments, collegial learning, and developing sustainable structures to prepare students for the future.

At the school, leisure leaders work every day. The school also has school nurses and school counselors on site. There are also special educators, social educators, and study and career counselors. Key educators work to develop our digital competence, and the school has substitute teachers who cover short-term absences. The school is divided into 4 teams, each led by a lead teacher. New and unqualified staff are mentored by experienced and qualified colleagues as part of their introduction and ongoing daily teaching work. The school offers opportunities for students with needs to work in smaller teaching groups. A preparatory class for newly arrived students is available at the school.

Job Responsibilities

As an educator at Sjöpark School, you will work with everything related to teaching. You will prepare, plan, implement, and evaluate students' progress and your own teaching. You will work closely with guardians. You will actively participate in school meetings and in your own development. Most educators also work as responsible mentors in a class. This role can be combined with other subjects or studies if desired.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a teaching degree and certification in natural sciences and technology. We seek someone who is clear, driven, and has an easy time building good relationships and collaborating well with students, guardians, and colleagues. We see that you are engaged, solution-focused, and enjoy thinking innovatively. We place great importance on personal suitability.

Within the framework of the national minority language law, Gällivare Municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Knowledge of any of these languages is an asset when applying for employment in Gällivare Municipality.

Working Hours/Duration

50% (full-time) Permanent, subject to the necessary decisions being made. Can be combined with other subjects to 100%.
