Sjöpark School is Gällivare Municipality's only municipal middle school in the locality and is located next to Sjöparken and Isborgen, the municipality's ice arena. The school has approximately 410 students and about 55 staff. The school has recently been renovated to meet the requirements for a middle school and is modern in its design. The school works extensively to create good learning environments, collegial learning, and to establish sustainable structures to prepare students for the future. The school has leisure leaders working every day. There are also school nurses and school counselors on site. Additionally, there are special educators, social educators, and study and career counselors. Two key educators work to develop our digital competence, and the school has substitute teachers to cover short-term absences. The school is divided into four teams led by a lead teacher. New and unqualified staff are mentored by experienced and qualified colleagues as part of their introduction and ongoing daily teaching work. The school offers opportunities for students with needs to work in smaller teaching groups. There is also a preparatory class for newly arrived students.

Job Responsibilities

As an educator at Sjöpark School, you will work with everything related to teaching. You will prepare, plan, implement, and evaluate students' progress and your own teaching. You will work closely with guardians. You will actively participate in school meetings and in your own development. Most educators also work as responsible mentors in a class. This position can be combined with other subjects or studies if desired.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a teaching degree and certification in music. We seek someone who is clear, driven, and has an easy time building good relationships and collaborating well with students, guardians, and colleagues. We see that you are engaged, solution-focused, and enjoy thinking innovatively. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Within the framework of the national minority language law, Gällivare Municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Knowledge of any of these languages is an advantage when applying for employment in Gällivare Municipality.

Working Hours/Duration

Full-time, permanent. 75% of the position is music teaching, with the remainder able to be combined with other subjects.
