About the Role and Your Responsibilities

Nyvångskolan is seeking a school counselor for a temporary position at 80% for at least one year starting in January 2025.

As a school counselor, you will be responsible for grades 5-9 at Nyvångskolan.

As a school counselor, you will actively work in the school and in the student health team where you will have close collaboration with school management, school nurse, school psychologist, and special educator. You will perform student health work at the individual, group, and organizational levels. Your tasks may include working with classes/groups, holding conversations with students individually and in groups, and communicating with guardians. You will participate in and drive the school's health-promoting work.

Your role includes working preventively against mental health issues, bullying, discrimination, and harassment. You will also have a central role in the school's equal treatment work. Furthermore, you will conduct social mapping and assessments and may also be responsible for some guidance and consultation to other school staff. You will collaborate with social services, child and adolescent psychiatry, and the police as well as other external actors. Additionally, you will be part of a network where you meet other school counselors in Lund municipality for joint meetings led by the coordinators of the school counselors. You will also be offered external supervision together with other school counselors in the municipality.

We Are Looking For You

To be considered for the position, you must have a degree in social work. Further education as a counselor is considered an advantage. You have previous experience working as a social worker or counselor and preferably have experience as a school counselor or in social work aimed at children and young people.

You are easy to collaborate with and can also plan and prioritize your work independently. You have the ability to create and maintain good relationships and you choose to see opportunities instead of obstacles. In your work, you see it as natural to plan and organize effectively.

The position will be filled on the condition that it is not needed by an already permanently employed staff member.

About the Workplace

Nyvångskolan F-9 belongs to Lund municipality and is located centrally in the scenic Dalby. The school has about 900 students, 140 employees, four after-school care departments for students in grades F-3, and an after-school club for students in grades 4-6, as well as an adapted primary school for grades 4-9. The school buildings are surrounded by green areas with many trees, bushes, and lawns where students have the opportunity to play and engage in sports every day.
