Public Health Strategist for Mariestad Municipality

The municipalities in Skaraborg will enter into new collaboration agreements with Västra Götalandsregionen regarding local public health work starting in 2025. We are therefore looking for a public health strategist for Mariestad Municipality, who can continue to drive our overall public health efforts.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a public health strategist, you have overall responsibility for driving and coordinating the municipality's work with social sustainability and public health. In your work, you ensure that the collaboration agreement between the municipality and Västra Götalandsregionen is taken into account.

The position is a fixed-term employment until 251231.

The work involves collaboration with the municipality's administrations, regional operations, as well as other authorities and voluntary organizations. You monitor the area, analyze and make current statistics available, identify needs, and support planning and follow-up.

In the role of public health strategist, you coordinate and prepare the meetings of the public health council, where you are also the presenting official. You are responsible for the development and follow-up of the annual public health plan, as well as for implementing and participating in activities related to the public health council's and committees' operational plans. You are also responsible for the public health council's budget and financial reporting and work on materials for political decisions and statements.

As a public health strategist, you lead and participate in municipal working groups and projects where your expertise is needed. You also contribute and participate in collaboration on public health issues at the sub-regional and regional level, by promoting the common vision for public health work, conveying input and priorities between the parties, and representing the municipality in the sub-regional suicide prevention network. You will also be tasked with coordinating the Skaraborg Public Health Conference 2025.

Organizationally, the public health strategist will belong to the social administration's staff and report directly to the social director.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with an academic education in public health science or equivalent that the employer deems equivalent. We prefer that you have experience in strategic planning and development work and that you thrive in a politically governed organization. You are a proactive official who takes initiative and develops issues that contribute to increased fulfillment of political goals.

You handle complex contexts and can independently plan, lead, drive, and follow up processes. Good collaboration skills and great humility are important. As a person, you are also self-driven, flexible, and prepared to adapt your work to any changing conditions. You have good analytical skills and are structured.

As a public health strategist, you should easily establish new contacts, create and maintain networks, and collaborate with other actors. You are comfortable presenting in various contexts.

In Swedish, you can communicate naturally, pedagogically, and effectively with different target groups, both orally and in writing. You should also feel comfortable with tasks that may occur in English.
