We are currently in an exciting period of change at the agency and we are looking for a dedicated economist who wants to contribute to the development of our operations. A new financial model was introduced in 2023 and the work to refine it is in full swing. We are looking for an economist who wants to work with our external accounting but also be involved in building routines and developing them in line with the changes taking place within the organization.

You will be part of the Finance and Procurement unit, which currently consists of about 15 employees and is under the Business Support department. The unit consists of economists, system economists, controllers, and procurement officers. We work in the Unit4 ERP financial system with a well-developed internal accounting for operational control.

Responsibilities

As a financial accountant, you will work with ongoing accounting and be responsible for account reconciliations and monthly reconciliations. You actively participate in the monthly closing process. You stay updated on accounting rules and regulations and see change and improvement work as a natural part of your daily work. You act as a support in accounting matters to the rest of the finance team and to the organization. You will also work in the team responsible for supporting SGU's managers and project managers with payments to our suppliers and invoicing our customers. As SGU is an agency with multi-funded operations through fees, grants, and multiple appropriations, the complexity of accounting increases, and your confidence in your accounting skills will facilitate your work.

Skills

We are looking for someone who has:

• relevant post-secondary education in finance/accounting or equivalent knowledge acquired through work experience that we consider equivalent
• several years of current experience in accounting
• good knowledge of the Office package - primarily Excel
• very good ability to express yourself well in both speech and writing in Swedish
• good ability to express yourself well in both speech and writing in English

Meritorious experiences and skills:

• experience in government accounting
• experience working in the Unit4 ERP financial system

Personal qualifications

For this position, we are looking for someone who is meticulous and passionate about accounting and developing within the field. You are a service-oriented person who enjoys working in a supportive and guiding role. The position involves many contacts within the agency and with external parties. The role requires you to be communicative, meticulous, and driven by order and structure. Since many internal and external deadlines must be met, it is important that you deliver in a structured manner. You see change work as a development opportunity. About the position

Employment type: Permanent full-time position, with a six-month probationary period.

Location: Uppsala. Work is scheduled during daytime, Monday to Friday.
