Our Operations

The geriatrics department at Akademiska sjukhuset is responsible for highly specialized geriatric care based on multiprofessional team assessments of the older patient, focusing on medical, physical, psychological, and social functional and activity capabilities. The primary target group is frail elderly patients with multiple interacting health issues and reduced reserves to recover from acute illness. Diagnostics, treatment, care planning, and rehabilitation are conducted in outpatient and inpatient care, with the whole patient and their individual needs in focus. We are responsible, in collaboration with Uppsala University, for education, research, and development in the diagnostics and treatment of aging-related diseases. Our medical team consists of around 35 doctors, including resident doctors, a large group of ST doctors, and everything from new specialists to experienced senior consultants and professors.

Your Mission

As a specialist doctor/assistant senior consultant/senior consultant with us, you will work in our outpatient clinic focusing on the assessment/investigation of cognitive diseases and issues related to specialized outpatient rehabilitation. This includes in-depth specialist investigations together with a multiprofessional team. Our clinic has begun to review its working methods, and we hope that you will be able to contribute to the development of our operations. You will also have a natural role in supervision and education. Depending on specialty and circumstances, participation in the department's on-call line is not mandatory but is available if interested.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for a specialist doctor in geriatrics, general medicine, or another relevant specialty with a strong interest in geriatrics. Previous professional experience as a specialist doctor, outpatient work, and experience working with geriatric patients are advantageous. We wish for you to be confident in your role, passionate about clinical work, and able to take your own well-founded initiatives. Personal suitability is highly valued.
