The Police Authority's finance department is tasked with shaping and driving the authority's strategic governance and follow-up that determines what the authority should achieve in terms of results and effects. The department allocates financial resources to ensure that the operations can reach the decided direction and follows up to ensure that the funds are used effectively and sustainably.

We also ensure a range of other conditions for the police to achieve their goals, e.g., by meeting the operational needs for suitable premises as well as materials and equipment. We provide appropriate services in the areas of cleaning, vehicle service, and the operation of police training at educational institutions to contribute to a good working environment. We also coordinate the Police Authority's sustainability work and are responsible for the authority's national vehicle supply and internal traffic safety work.

The unit contributes to and implements financial management in police regions and national departments. In addition, the unit creates conditions for regions and departments to manage state funds well through effective and appropriate processes for budgeting, follow-up, analysis, and forecasts. The unit is also responsible for ensuring that the authority has accurate and fair financial reporting. We are about 140 employees and are located in several places across the country.

The unit and the authority are at the beginning of an exciting transformation journey where a new business system is to be implemented by 2026/2027. This position is located in Kungsholmen, Stockholm.

The group that works with the financial management concerning the Police Authority's national departments is a group of 15 controllers. The controllers in the group work with eight of our national departments as well as several of the authority's common costs. The group also includes controllers who work with the financial management of the Police Authority's externally funded projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

In the role of financial controller for externally funded projects, you will work closely with the operations and representatives of the projects such as project managers, project owners, and, where applicable, project administrators.

The work is performed with a high degree of independence and includes quality assurance of the reporting in the projects, budgeting, follow-up, analysis, forecasting, and reporting of the projects. You will participate in budget and follow-up dialogues and analyze and report outcomes to representatives of the projects as well as to the funders.

The work also includes preparing calculations and producing financial decision-making materials. In addition, some work related to the annual accounts will be included. You will also work on the development of financial work, and we hope you are interested and engaged in this.

QUALIFICATIONS

This is an opportunity for you who have:

  • Relevant academic education or equivalent knowledge/experience acquired in other ways
  • Current experience of working with similar tasks
  • Good ability to express yourself in Swedish both orally and in writing
  • Knowledge of English both orally and in writing

It is an advantage if you have:

  • Worked in public or state operations
  • Experience of working in complex organizations
  • Experience and interest in continuous improvement work in everyday life
  • Experience with larger established business systems such as UBW (formerly Agresso) or Microsoft Dynamics.
  • Very good knowledge of Excel

Personal qualities

To succeed in the role, you need to be analytical, strategic with the ability to identify what is most important, and you can see the whole picture. You are communicative and have good pedagogical skills, as you will need to explain financial relationships in dialogue with budget-responsible managers and project leaders. You enjoy being self-driven and taking your own initiatives within given frameworks, but you can also quickly shift focus when the situation requires it.

You act professionally and have the ability to see the assignment and your role in a whole. You enjoy collaborating at different organizational levels. We value your willingness and ability to contribute to the development of the operations and see your part in the whole. You are also curious about the possibilities of digital development.
