The Position Offers

An exciting role in a unique environment where every day aims to defend the Air Force's capabilities and counter other actors' possibilities to attack our systems. The cyber domain is one of the Swedish Armed Forces' prioritized areas, and you will participate in a rapidly evolving operation.

You will be an important resource in the 161st Air Surveillance Battalion's development of the ability to defend, operate, and train in the cyber environment.

About the 161st Air Surveillance Battalion

The 161st Command and Air Surveillance Battalion operates around the clock, year-round, to monitor and defend Swedish airspace by producing and distributing authorized air situations, commanding air combat forces, and coordinating air combat units. The battalion also has the mobile capability to establish and regroup radio and radar stations with its own resources.

Main Responsibilities

As a Cyber Soldier in the 161st Air Surveillance Battalion, you are part of the Air Force's operational cyber defense and play a central role in protecting and securing the Air Force's digital systems and communication platforms. Your task is to identify, analyze, and neutralize threats in the cyber domain that may affect the Air Force's ability to carry out its missions. By using advanced tools and applying tactical methods, you contribute to ensuring the Air Force's operational effectiveness and freedom of action. The role also includes continuous development of personal skills and the opportunity to participate in several exercises, both nationally and internationally.

Tasks for Cyber Soldier GSS/K include:

  • Advanced sensor analysis
  • Incident management
  • Security reviews of systems
  • Participate in the development of methods and tools for the battalion's advanced systems
  • Provide input to the battalion's/Armed Forces' situational picture regarding the cyber environment
  • Educate and inform

Qualifications

  • Approved military basic training as a cyber soldier (completed or ongoing)
  • Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish and English

Employment form: fixed-term employment for a maximum of eight years, with the possibility of extension. The employment may begin with a 6-month probationary period.

Salary: individual salary setting applies.
Start date: by agreement.

The position involves an obligation for international service, wartime placement, and participation in training and exercises in the war organization.

Information about the Armed Forces and the Recruiting Unit:

The Uppland Air Wing, F 16, is headquartered at Uppsala Garrison. The unit is part of the Swedish Air Force and is responsible for the operation and monitoring of Uppsala Airport as well as the training of conscripts in various positions within the Air Force. The unit also leads the 161st Command and Air Surveillance Battalion, which commands fighter aircraft in the air and maintains the constant surveillance of Swedish airspace. The unit operates from several locations across the country and constitutes an important part of the growth period that the Air Force is undergoing.
