Staff Officer at the Air Staff

About the Department
A3 leads the execution process in the Air Force, which involves operational management, follow-up, and balancing of the Air Force's activities and units. This is done in the short and medium term and includes exercise planning for the Air Force, Aviation, and Weather Services.
About the Position
The position is located at A3 in section A35. The work at A35 is characterized by collaboration and job satisfaction, where urgent matters that need to be handled at short notice are common. The position involves working with significant personal responsibility where you, as a staff resource, are also expected to support other work at the Air Staff. In your role, you will have daily contact with various units of the Air Force. Primarily, the position entails working on-site at the Air Staff in Uppsala, with business trips both within and outside the country.
Main Responsibilities
- Participate in and lead preparations within the Air Staff's execution process (e.g., air and ground operations, training, readiness checks, collaboration with other branches of defense and allies).
- Regular collaboration with the Air Force's units.
- Participate in and lead the work with the units' periodic reporting.
- Collaborate with NATO AIRCOM and the Air Force's units.
- Participate in the Air Force's operational planning in the short and medium term.
- Support the planning and evaluation processes within the Air Staff.
Qualifications
- Completed professional officer training equivalent to SO 7.
- Good ability to express yourself in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing.
- Driver's license category B.
- Good knowledge of the Office suite.
Meritorious
- Experience in staff work.
- Experience working in the Air Force.
- Experience leading and driving preparations.
- Good knowledge of the Armed Forces' command support systems.
Personal Qualities
We are looking for someone with good collaboration skills while also being able to work independently, sometimes with limited input. You have the ability to quickly handle emerging tasks and are used to working with a flexible approach to changing circumstances. You are driven and can come up with solutions to arising problems. You should have integrity, work from a high security perspective, and be unpretentious. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Employment type: Permanent, the employment begins with a six-month probationary period for applicants who are not currently employed within the Armed Forces.
Employment rate: Full-time
Work location: Uppsala, some possibility for remote work exists after agreement with the immediate supervisor.
Start date: As soon as possible according to agreement
Salary: Individual salary setting and benefits according to collective agreement

The primary and largest task of the Air Staff is to support the Air Force Chief's leadership of all squadrons and schools in the Air Force at all levels of the conflict scale. The Air Staff develops, plans, executes, and evaluates orders and directives issued by the Air Force Chief. The Air Staff consists of approximately 350 employees. The Air Force organizes and trains air, base, and command units and is tasked with monitoring and protecting Sweden's airspace. This is a mission that continues around the clock, year-round, to ensure Sweden's integrity. Approximately 5100 employees, both civilian and military, work within the Air Force.
