About the Position: Unit Manager, SO9
The Unit Manager is part of the leadership triad along with the Wing Commander and Deputy Wing Commander. The leadership triad constitutes the wing management. Furthermore, the Unit Manager supports C F 16 with advice, knowledge, experience, and information for decision-making.
Main Responsibilities
- Be part of the wing management and F 16 leadership group.
- Provide support and advice to the Wing Commander in leading the unit.
- Ensure continuity and long-term sustainability in F 16 operations and for F 16 personnel.
- Participate in C F 16 activities and represent C F 16 in various forums.
- Support in matters regarding F 16 personnel supply, personnel development, training, exercises, promotions, and follow-up.
- Be part of the Air Force Manager's council and participate in its tasks.
- Be a regular participant in the Air Force's traditions council.
Qualifications
- The applicant is a specialist officer with the rank of manager, SO8.
- 25 years of experience as a professional officer.
- Completed Higher Specialist Officer Training, HSOU.
- Able to work independently and lead and coach personnel while following up and developing operations.
- Very good understanding of the wing's internal operations and development.
- Good understanding of the Air Force's organization, operations, command structure, and organizational culture.
- Very good understanding of the FM command system and the Air Force's career and professional development system, FKY.
- Approved FM FYSS.
- Driving license B.
- Approved results on tests conducted as part of the admission process.
Personal Qualities
General requirements for personal qualities according to FM2023-652:20 General system description SO9. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
You are a good representative of the Armed Forces, the Air Force, and F 16, as well as a role model both as a person and as a leader. You have great trust and respect in the organization for both your competence and your personal qualities. You build your leadership on the Armed Forces' values. Through good communication skills, you create a large network and collaborate with officials at all levels within the Armed Forces, such as the Air Staff, Defense Staff, schools/centers within the FM, the Swedish Defense University, and F 16 units and battalions.

- Served as a unit specialist officer in the leadership triad at the unit/battalion level.
- Served at the wing staff.
- Served at the Air Staff or Defense Staff.
- Served at schools/centers as an educator/teacher.

Uppland Air Wing, F 16, is headquartered at Uppsala garrison. The unit is part of the Swedish Air Force and is responsible for the operation and surveillance of Uppsala Airport as well as training conscripts in various positions within the Air Force. The unit also leads the 161st Combat Control and Air Surveillance Battalion, which directs combat aircraft in the air and maintains constant surveillance of Swedish airspace. The unit operates from several locations across the country and constitutes an important part of the growth period that the Air Force is facing.
