Position Offers
As the Signals Protection Chief of the Army at the Army Staff's Communication and Command Support Systems Section, you will work on various issues within the signals protection function, which also includes NATO Communication Security (COMSEC). This includes operational leadership of signals protection in ongoing operations both nationally and internationally, as well as planning signals protection for operations and exercises and within national defense planning at both tactical and operational levels.
About the Unit
The Communication and Command Support Systems Section is a section within the Army Staff's execution department that works broadly across all processes and time perspectives of the Army Staff. This includes execution, planning, and development of new capabilities and services.
As part of both leadership, planning, and development of the Army's command support systems, the section is also responsible for Signals Protection in the Army, frequency coordination, information system services, and functional management of the Army's network operations within the framework of the mobile core network and other transmissions such as shortwave communication. The section is also responsible for leading the Army's communication preparations for larger exercises and operations, both nationally and internationally.
The section also participates from a functional perspective in defense planning, such as developing operational plans and standing orders for operations. The section supports but also drives its own development issues, both within the framework of Army Organization 25 and in the context of interoperability, primarily cooperation within the Nordic countries and NATO integration.
The section is also part of the operational level function and participates weekly in various preparations with the Operational Staff J6.
Main Responsibilities
As the Signals Protection Chief in the Army at the Command Support Systems Section, you will be responsible for planning and leading the use of the Army's signals protection both nationally and internationally.
This includes, among other things:
- Establishing signals protection key series for the Army Chief's command needs nationally and internationally
- Maintaining the Army's NATO COMSEC SUB-Account and being responsible for the Army's needs for NATO COMSEC
- Developing signals protection directives in national as well as international order frameworks for operations, exercises, and international missions/operations
- Coordinating signals protection services with security protection and IT security services
- Monitoring the Army's signals protection status and current tele threats
- Compiling signals protection assessments, orders, and reports and sharing the current signals protection status
- Developing rules and instructions for the management and implementation of signals protection activities in the Army
- Following up on necessary actions in case of signals protection incidents
- Ensuring that the Army's signals protection personnel maintain their signals protection authorizations.
Qualifications
- Knowledge in the area of command support systems in general
- Driver's license B
Meritorious
- Knowledge of NATO/US COMSEC
- Practical experience in leading command support systems at the tactical level, brigade, or military region
- Experience in staff work within the communication and command support systems area
- Good presentation skills and proficiency in Swedish and English, both spoken and written
- Technical competence in the command systems area is desirable
- Experience from the command process in operational units is highly meritorious
- Completed basic course in signals protection, signals protection Theory 2, and Signals Protection Chief training at the Total Defense Signals Protection School (TSS).
Personal Qualities
Great importance is placed on personal qualities. We see that you have the ability to independently drive project-like activities and tasks. You should be able to independently plan and organize your work based on the section's overarching tasks. You should also be able to participate independently, from a functional perspective, in various preparations within the Army Staff.
