Sweden's Control of Airspace

Sweden's control of airspace relies on sensors, communications, and personnel who are active 24/7, all year round, across the country. When technical systems fail, it is your task as part of the company to ensure that these are repaired or replaced to enable the Air Force's combat in the air.

As a Specialist Officer in the Mobile Company

As a specialist officer in the Mobile Company, you will be part of a group of soldiers, specialist officers, and officers. Your colleagues in the group consist of technicians, combat medics, vehicle drivers, support gunners, and high-altitude workers. The specialist officer serves as the group's leaders and technical commanders. The technical commander is a specialist in radar or communication technology and the handling of the platoon's sensors or radio systems. The group leaders manage the operations with the support of the technical commander to solve the platoon's tasks.

The Mobile Company's groups solve tasks with technically advanced systems while maintaining a high level of combat readiness, medical care, and tactical behavior, which are prerequisites for accomplishing the task in crisis and war. The company's operational groups need both technical understanding to achieve effectiveness with assigned systems and combat technical knowledge to ensure the group's survival.

Regardless of whether you wish to be a technical commander or group leader, there will be opportunities to deepen your knowledge of the technical systems, which is necessary for the group to effectively accomplish its tasks. For the technical commander, this is a requirement; for the group leader, it is desirable.

Radar Platoon

Main Responsibilities

To fulfill your role, you will be trained in climbing for high-altitude work and vehicle authorization for trucks and heavy trailers. Other competencies such as instructor qualifications in weapons, medical care, SERE, vehicles, winter service, electrical installations, and climbing can be added as opportunities arise. For the technical commander, radar or radio training on specific systems will be conducted.

The daily operations are primarily conducted in Uppsala, F 16. However, the company's tasks may require the group to work anywhere across Sweden. During these assignments, you often work far from other parts of the company. As a specialist, you may lead regrouping, establishment, and troubleshooting of systems, and other general field or soldier duties. During working hours, you will engage in physical training both individually and collectively. You will have the opportunity to put your stamp on the training and lead training sessions for the company.
