Staff Officer for the Space Department

About the Space Department
The Space Department operates under the Air Staff and was established in 2022 to meet new challenges in our increasingly high-tech world. We offer a unique opportunity to be involved early in driving the development of the Armed Forces within the space domain and thereby contribute to Sweden's security.
The Space Department has representation from all branches of the armed forces: land, sea, air, and cyber. We participate in a number of exciting projects, such as the development of a military Space Situational Awareness, satellite launches in Kiruna, requirements development and ordering of satellites, as well as international collaborations within the space domain.
About the Position
As the Space Department is in a development phase, this position will offer good opportunities to take significant personal responsibility and influence the direction of the work. The work has a broad scope, with a focus on operational support within the staff function of the Space Department. Training in the space domain will be offered, both nationally and internationally. We believe it is important to gain knowledge about the space domain to develop within your position and within the department.
Main Responsibilities
- Main responsibility for exercise activities by planning and supporting the department's work before and during exercises, as well as follow-up and evaluation after exercises.
- Main responsibility for security and IT processes both internally within the department and to support ongoing projects in the space domain (e.g., procurement of satellites, space situational awareness, and launch capabilities). This includes, among other things, follow-up and support of security reviews, security analyses, security protection plans, handling of crypto and IT material, as well as compiling protected activities.
- Main responsibility for planning and coordinating training within the space area.
- Responsible for administration and establishment of the department's IT permissions, decisions, as well as purchasing/renewing licenses and developing the department's collaboration platforms.
- Responsible for future recruitments regarding volunteers and specialist officers, as well as supporting other recruitment within the department.
- Represent the department in collaboration with other parts of the Air Staff.
- Support with case management in various systems as needed, which includes, among other things, distribution, coordination, and follow-up of incoming tasks to the department.
- Support the department's work in financial processes that occur continuously throughout the year as needed.
Qualifications
- Specialist officer SO7/OF 2
- Experience in training and exercise planning
- Experience in staff work and familiarity with planning and/or following up on operations
- Good ability to express oneself formally in speech and writing in both Swedish and English
- Driving license B
Desirable Qualifications
- Knowledge in security/IT security & signal protection area
- Experience in recruitment processes
- Experience in administrative work and information management
- Knowledge of PRIO, VIDAR, IS UNDSÄK, BICES, and SWECCIS
- Experience with voluntary defense organizations
- Familiarity with the space domain and space issues
Personal Attributes
We are looking for someone with an interest in space who has the ability to work in a team as well as independently. You are service-oriented and have an easy time contacting people. As a person, you are proactive, goal- and solution-oriented, and have an interest in increasing your understanding of the operations. A prerequisite for successfully managing the tasks is that you are structured and orderly and have a good ability to work under time pressure. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Employment type: Professional officer position. Permanent employment.
Work extent: 100%.
Salary: Individual salary setting applies.
Start date: By agreement.
Work location: Uppsala. There is also the possibility to work one day a week from the Headquarters in Stockholm, and the possibility for remote work exists in the long term.

The primary and largest task of the Air Staff is to support the Air Force Chief's leadership of all squadrons and schools in the Air Force at all levels of the conflict scale. The Air Staff develops, plans, implements, and evaluates orders and directives issued by the Air Force Chief. The Air Staff consists of approximately 350 employees. The Air Force organizes and trains air, base, and command units and has the task of monitoring and protecting Sweden's airspace. This is a mission that continues around the clock, year-round, to ensure Sweden's integrity. Approximately 5100 employees, both civilian and military, work within the Air Force.
