About the Unit
The 161st Air Command Battalion is part of F16. The battalion's main task is to oversee Sweden's airspace and air operations control. The battalion is actively engaged in operational activities on a daily basis. Other tasks include the operation and protection of fortification command posts as well as the deployment of mobile sensors and radio systems across Sweden. The battalion consists of companies that are spread across various geographical locations. The staff's task is to coordinate the battalion's various activities at all levels of conflict, from peace to war. It is a small and cohesive staff consisting of three sections: Intelligence and Security Section, Operations Section, and Planning Section.
The 161st Air Command Staff is now seeking a Staff Assistant based in Bålsta
As a staff assistant, you will support the staff with orderliness, staff duties, and staff expedition duties in daily operations as well as within the framework of exercises and missions.
As a staff assistant, you will work to create structure and provide administrative support. You will participate in preparations, execution, and follow-up at planning meetings, in dialogues, and leadership. You will support the staff regarding administration in the PRIO and VIDAR systems. You will also assist in training the staff to help increase combat readiness. You are a resource and asset for the staff and can support as a participant in ceremonies, transports, and visits.
The position includes participation in exercises and follow-up of operations, sometimes at other locations.
There is a need for several staff assistants in different parts of the staff, for example in the staff leadership, planning section, and communications function. This placement will be based on where the greatest need exists and after dialogue with the applicants.
The work as a staff assistant at the 161st Air Command Battalion requires independent individuals who can take a lot of responsibility and are willing to learn. It is particularly suitable if you intend to apply for an officer position in the future.
Main Responsibilities
- Be part of the staff in the combat unit and be able to act in the role of staff assistant or report receiver
- Support planning and execution within the sections
- Provide administrative support with tasks such as orders, shopping carts, bookings, and taking minutes
- Assist in preparing materials for the commander
- Support as an editor for various materials
- Facilitate cooperation between other units within the battalion
- Assist in organizing orders
- Support during the staff's training
- Participate in the unit's or companies' training activities.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- Completed and approved military basic training
- Good proficiency in MS Office
- Driver's license B
- Express yourself well in both spoken and written Swedish and English

You are social and outgoing with strong communication skills and feel comfortable working independently and with mission tactics. You can quickly prioritize and act flexibly when the job requires it.

Uppland Wing, F 16, is headquartered at Uppsala Garrison. The unit is part of the Swedish Air Force and is responsible for the operation and surveillance of Uppsala Airport as well as the training of conscripts in several different positions in the Air Force. The unit also leads the 161st Combat Command and Air Surveillance Battalion, which commands fighter aircraft in the air and maintains the constant surveillance of Swedish airspace. The unit operates from several different locations in the country and constitutes an important part of the growth period that the Air Force is facing.
