Conscription Consultant

As a conscription consultant, you are part of the Naval Base's support to conscripts during their basic training regarding their psychosocial health. You provide support to both conscripts and commanders, enabling conscripts to make the most of their training. This aims to optimize combat readiness. You are primarily responsible for a company of about 250 conscripts and work alongside another conscription consultant who is responsible for a different company. It is an exciting and significant job with an important mission in our society.

About the Unit

The Training Battalion plays a central role in the growth of the Navy. The unit is responsible for the basic training of conscripts who will be placed in combat units, take employment at various naval units, or continue their education to become officers. The Training Battalion consists of a battalion staff and two training companies. The workplace is located within the Naval Base and at Kungsholmsfort in Karlskrona.

Main Responsibilities

The main responsibilities of the conscription consultant are to provide supportive, motivating, and coaching conversations with conscripts. You also collaborate with commanders within the Training Battalion, defense health services, soldier home managers, and field pastors. The position includes cooperation with defense health services, which conducts further assessments of care needs and rehabilitation. Provide guidance in connection with the rehabilitation of conscripts. You also collaborate with relevant external actors such as municipalities, regions, social insurance agencies, and the Legal, Financial and Administrative Services Agency. As a conscription consultant, you work with preventive measures such as information meetings and training on issues related to psychosocial health, stress management, and social rights. The work mainly takes place in a staff environment, but there may be times when you work in a field environment to provide on-site support.

If necessary, work may occur in the evenings and weekends on rare occasions. Travel for work occurs on rare occasions.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

• Degree in social work, behavioral science, or other education deemed relevant by the employer
• Driver's license (B)

PREFERABLE

• Experience working with youth or young adults
• Experience in supportive and therapeutic conversations
• Motivational interviewing (MI) or other conversation training
• Completed military service or basic military training (GMU)

The overall task of the Naval Base is to support the naval units with logistics such as transportation, basing, surveillance, and medical care, both at home and abroad. The Naval Base has its headquarters in Karlskrona but operates where needed, for example in Berga/Muskö, south of Stockholm, and in Gothenburg. Other major tasks for the Naval Base include monitoring Sweden's 2700 km long coastline with territorial waters.
