Trekungagymnasiet is an adapted upper secondary school where everyone can succeed.

At Trekungagymnasiet, community and choices are important. We are a school where we strive for strong cohesion, allowing all students the opportunity to achieve their goals and flourish. We have about 90 students distributed across four national programs and the individual program. The students have an intellectual disability. Approximately 60 staff members work at the school.

Due to retirements, we are looking for a licensed special educator with a focus on intellectual disabilities and a relevant teaching degree.

Responsibilities

As a special educator, you are responsible for the educational planning, teaching, and mentoring of a class consisting of approximately 6-12 students. You work in accordance with the goals of the curriculum and other central and local governing documents. You are responsible for development discussions and for written assessments based on the knowledge requirements. This is done in collaboration with colleagues in various teams. As a special educator, you are responsible for teaching both individually and in groups, based on each student's individual needs and development. An important part of the work is to coordinate with other staff in the class. Together, you enable the students to develop.

In the role of special educator, we also see that you are active and driving in the overall development of the school. The position includes collaboration with external actors such as Habilitation, DART, and SPSM.

The position may change over time based on the needs of the organization, which means we are looking for someone who is flexible and sees opportunities in development and change.

Qualifications

Licensed special educator with a focus on intellectual disabilities and a relevant teaching degree.
You have pedagogical experience working with the student group.
You have subject competence to teach in all subject areas within the adapted upper secondary school's individual program.
At least five years of experience working with children, youth, and/or adults with disabilities in adapted schools.
You should have experience working with clear pedagogical methods and AAC. The work requires good competence in common digital tools.

Familiarity and knowledge of the student group is a prerequisite. Furthermore, you are an engaged person who enjoys teaching and working with youth.

You are creative, attentive, and structured with a good ability to adapt your teaching style to meet your students' individual needs. You are clear and good at communicating and have the ability to inspire students' interest in school. We expect you to take initiative in your role, start activities, and achieve results. We place great importance on personality and the willingness to work with and for youth.
