JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Ekmanska School is a newly established adapted primary school for grades 1-9 that will welcome students in the fall of 2025, and we are now looking for someone to work as a special teacher focusing on subject areas.
The school is adapted for students with severe or profound intellectual disabilities, who require alternative augmentative communication and also have significant mobility impairments. At the start of the fall 2025, there will be a maximum of 6 students studying subject areas, but in the long term, the plan is for the school to expand.
You will be part of the adapted primary school team with special teachers and student assistants. You will be pedagogically responsible for the students' learning and lead the teaching with the support of student assistants. You will primarily work in the class that studies subject areas but are expected to collaborate closely with your colleagues in the other class.
Your main task is to develop the students' learning and development towards the goals for adapted primary school. You will plan and implement teaching for the students, both individually and together with colleagues, and be responsible for assessment.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone who is educated and licensed as a special teacher with the qualification to teach in adapted primary school focusing on subject areas. Previous experience working in adapted primary schools is a requirement for the position. Experience and knowledge of working with multiple disabilities are meritorious. If you also have experience working with AAC (Alternative and Augmentative Communication), that is a plus.

You adapt the way you convey your message to the recipient and encourage dialogue, participation, and engagement. You work well with others by listening, showing interest, and respect. You understand the common mission and work to make it as good as possible.
