Construction Engineer Wanted at Nässjö Municipality

The Community Planning Office consists of about 30 people divided into three units: Map, Planning and Building, and Environment.

A great advantage of the organization is the close collaboration between the units. We mainly cooperate with the highland municipalities, which include 5 municipalities. Furthermore, the building permit departments in the county support each other and find common ground when assessing cases. Therefore, you will be able to receive support from many competent colleagues in the county.

You will get to work in a picturesque municipality located at the top of the Småland highlands. Nässjö is a railway hub with good communications in all directions. The municipality has just over 30,000 inhabitants, and the population curve is trending upwards.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

You will primarily work with processing preliminary decisions, building permits, notifications, and supervision through a process-oriented approach. As a building permit engineer, you will also handle the technical review of buildings, allowing you to follow the case from the building permit application to the completed project. Mainly, this involves office work, but you will also make many visits to various locations in the municipality. You will handle cases independently in close collaboration with and support from several other colleagues. We have recurring meetings each week where we distribute and discuss the handling of various cases as well as work methodology and its development.

A large part of the work involves contact with those applying for building permits, as well as neighbors, the public, and other authorities. The position involves exciting and complex issues and many social contacts, both internally and externally.

In addition to close collaboration with colleagues in the office, you will actively work with other departments and municipal companies. An important part of the job is to provide advice, support, and information to the public and businesses, and in collaboration with other municipal employees, strive for high service levels. Your tasks include presenting cases in writing and orally to the board.

QUALIFICATIONS

You who apply have a relevant university education in the construction field or equivalent work experience as assessed by the employer. You have good knowledge of the Planning and Building Act and its application. Experience in processing building permit cases and applying Swedish legislation is an advantage. To succeed in the role, you should find it interesting to handle legal issues and work with service to municipal residents. The work requires you to express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish. It is also an advantage if you have an interest and education in architecture and design.

As a person, you are attentive and have the ability to combine service and authority roles in your customer contacts. You need to have pedagogical and straightforward communication in your meetings with different stakeholders. You are service-oriented, structured, and have a positive attitude, as well as the ability to work quickly and accurately, both independently and in a team.

A high level of digital maturity, with the ability to work independently and effectively with digital technology and understand the interplay between humans and technology, is a prerequisite for handling the role since our work process is primarily digital. You actively work to simplify a complex operation through digital methods, processes, and with the help of AI.

We place great emphasis on personal suitability. Since site visits are part of the job, it is a requirement that you hold a B driver's license.
