The Department of Employment and Integration is responsible for the integration of newly arrived immigrants, labor market issues, and the municipal activity responsibility in Umeå Municipality. We are a key actor in the work for social sustainability and inclusion. By supporting individuals on their path to employment or studies, we contribute to both people's self-sufficiency and employers' competence supply, as well as the development of inclusive workplaces. We have one of Sweden's most important missions – to create hope for the future.

The department supports participants who need assistance to take the next step towards employment or studies. The work is carried out in close collaboration with actors such as social services, the Swedish Social Insurance Agency, the Swedish Public Employment Service, Region Västerbotten, the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, and employers. We are also an active partner in the collaboration platform "Arbetsmarknadstorget" (Labor Market Square), where we, together with other authorities, offer coordinated support to individuals in need of combined interventions.

The operations are highly influenced by external factors such as societal development, political decisions, changes in legislation, and labor market conditions. This places demands on continuous development and the ability to adapt working methods and interventions to new needs.
