The Social Services Department provides support to the residents of Botkyrka and is responsible for exercising public authority, primarily under the Social Services Act. The support is provided to both individuals and their relatives. The Social Services Department has a special responsibility for children, young people, and adults in need of support according to social legislation. We are approximately 500 employees who, using strength-based approaches, provide support to the residents of Botkyrka in an equal, fair, and secure manner.

The Position and Responsibilities

Mottag Vuxen (Adult Intake) is now seeking two social workers for the team, as two of our employees plan to take parental leave during the autumn. We offer a permanent position as well as a one-year fixed-term contract.

As a social worker, you are the first point of contact for adults, aged 18 and above, who are in need of financial assistance. Mottag Vuxen serves as an entry point for individuals who do not currently have contact with social services. You are responsible for providing civic guidance, directing clients to the appropriate services whether within our own municipality or with external partners, and investigating the right to financial assistance. We also meet with individuals who wish to leave a criminal lifestyle, striving to be a more visible and accessible social service.

The position involves great variation and requires good knowledge of societal support functions, such as social services, the region, other authorities, as well as our local initiatives within the municipality – for example, Employment and Activity programs.

The work may take place outside the office in close collaboration with external actors. You also collaborate with internal units within social services, Citizen Service, and the Care and Elderly Care Department. A large part of your work is also preventive, catching small problems before they become larger. In complex cases, we work in teams, and you will receive support from your senior social secretary who coaches you in your daily work.

Your responsibilities include:

• conducting investigations into municipal affiliation
• offering advice and support, as well as motivating change and independence
• handling emergency and urgent applications for financial assistance as well as emergency placements in external temporary housing

You who apply to us

You have a degree in social work or other relevant higher education, for example within social work, psychology, or sociology with elements of social law.

Other requirements:

• Experience working within financial assistance
• Experience with current legislation, such as the Social Services Act (SOL) and the Ordinance on Social Services (OSL), documented through relevant education or work experience.
• Experience using the business system LifeCare.
• Experience documenting and administering in social work, including writing investigations, decisions, and other communication with citizens and authorities.

It is meritorious if you have experience from intake within financial assistance.

To succeed in your professional role, you need to be secure and have the ability to build trust in meetings with citizens – often in vulnerable and complex situations. You collaborate both internally with colleagues and with external actors, such as healthcare and criminal justice, to ensure the right support and interventions for citizens in need. Together, you work to find sustainable solutions, for example in emergency placements and investigations regarding municipal affiliation. You work in a structured and analytical manner in the handling of cases, documentation, and assessments, which allows you to prioritize and handle both urgent and planned tasks efficiently. Your attention to detail is shown in how you structure investigations, formulate clear analyses, and ensure that all important information is included. This leads to decisions that are legally secure and adapted to the individual's needs in cases of mental illness and substance abuse.
