Hospitals West is a department within the Region of Västra Götaland and consists of four hospitals – Alingsås Hospital, Angered Primary Care Hospital, Högsbo Primary Care Hospital, and Kungälv Hospital. Approximately 3,000 employees work with us every day to provide good, safe, and high-quality specialist healthcare.

About the Department

The Psychiatry Department has approximately 300 employees and provides child and adolescent outpatient care as well as adult outpatient and inpatient care for the population in the municipalities of Ale, Kungälv, Stenungsund, and Tjörn. Within the child and adolescent psychiatry section of the department, approximately 55 employees work, including seven senior consultants and six resident doctors (ST-doctors).

The child and adolescent psychiatry within the department consists of three outpatient clinics: One clinic in Stenungsund, which receives patients with all types of child and adolescent psychiatric issues, and two clinics in Kungälv which assess and treat patients with affective and neuropsychiatric conditions. Queen Silvia Children's and Young People's Hospital in Gothenburg is responsible for inpatient care.

At Kungälv Hospital, there are two subspecialized psychiatry clinics that both receive patients from the age of 16: An eating disorder unit with day care and a DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) clinic.

The operations of the clinics are characterized by high competence and a high degree of collaboration, and are conducted from a multidisciplinary perspective. Other professions working at the clinics include psychologists, social workers, nurses, occupational therapists, and medical secretaries. We enjoy the advantages of a small hospital with short communication lines and good cooperation with colleagues within the adult psychiatry section of the department. Our goal is to provide our patients with the best possible care, and we continuously work on developing our methods and treatments.

What We Offer

We now have the opportunity to hire an additional specialist doctor in child and adolescent psychiatry as a senior consultant at the Stenungsund clinic is retiring.

As a specialist doctor, you work in a multidisciplinary team and supervise resident doctors and other trainee doctors. You participate in the development work of the clinic and the department. During daytime on weekdays, the department has an emergency responsibility that is shared among the three clinics, and approximately one day per week you will assist the emergency team, which consists of two therapists from the affective clinic (usually a social worker and a psychologist). You answer questions and, if necessary, assess patients who may sometimes need to be referred to the child and adolescent psychiatric emergency clinic in Gothenburg for potential admission.

About You

We are looking for you who are a specialist doctor in child and adolescent psychiatry. As a person, you are calm and confident in your role as a doctor. You are structured, flexible, and have a good ability to collaborate. You have good communication and collaboration skills with both internal and external partners.

Personal suitability is given great weight.
