Job Responsibilities

Do you want to make a difference in the lives of young people and contribute to a safer and more present school environment? We are now looking for a substitute student coach for Malung-Sälen Municipality. Due to planned parental leave, we are seeking a substitute student coach for Centralskolan in Malung who wants to work closely with young people and be an important part of the work to increase school attendance and strengthen student motivation.

As a student coach, you work primarily preventively and promotively to create a safe and inclusive school environment. You become a clear adult role model who is close to the students in hallways, the cafeteria, study support areas, and the dining hall. The role involves actively seeking out students and building relationships that serve as a foundation for motivation and change.

A central part of the assignment is to maintain close contact with students at risk of problematic school absenteeism. The duties include, among other things:

  • Maintain daily contact with students.
  • Be a present adult in the school environment, visible in hallways and common areas.
  • Monitor student absences and contact students quickly when they deviate from school.
  • Support students in finding effective strategies for studies and daily life.
  • Collaborate with guardians, student health services, mentors, school counselors (SYV), Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (BUP), Habilitation Services (HAB), and social services.
  • Hold regular check-ins with the principal and school counselor.

The work requires great flexibility, independence, and genuine commitment to the well-being and future of young people.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are relationship-building, proactive, and confident in yourself. You have a natural ability to build trust and create trusting relationships, especially with teenagers. To succeed in this role, we see that you have:

  • Experience working with young people, preferably within schools, leisure activities, social work, or similar fields.
  • Knowledge and understanding of problematic school absenteeism and how to work motivationally.
  • Good collaboration skills and experience working with various actors.
  • Ability to work independently, identify what needs to be done, and then do it.
  • Digital competence and confidence in using social platforms in contact with young people.

It is meritorious if you have education in pedagogy, social work, behavioral science, or a similar field. Great importance will be attached to personal suitability.

The position involves documenting and reporting results, as well as contributing to the development of working methods. You also need to stay updated on pedagogical development and coaching methods and always act professionally in your assignment.

We Offer

  • Salary Form: Monthly salary.
  • Salary Range: The salary for the position currently lies within the range of 30,000–33,000 SEK per month, based on 2025 salary levels. We apply individual and differentiated salary setting.
  • Employment Type: Fixed-term employment.
  • Duration/Start Date: Start date as soon as possible according to agreement.
