About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service
The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will become safer and more secure for everyone. We are the agency responsible for prisons, probation, remand custody, and client transport.
Learning Centres is a national organization where the Adult Education Section provides education for clients of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service. At every prison in the country and some remand custody facilities, there is one or more Learning Centres where teachers teach at the basic and upper secondary level, corresponding to municipal adult education, as well as Swedish for Immigrants courses. The adult education is nationally cohesive and organized so that studies function regardless of which facility a client arrives at, and even if they are transferred during their studies.
Job Description
Clients who need education can apply and be assigned to apply for adult education. The teaching is individual-based and takes place at the prison's Learning Centre. You will support students and teachers, both practically and pedagogically, in the role of pedagogical supervisor. The teaching teacher may be located locally or remotely at another prison. This means that in your assignment, you will have continuous contact and collaborate with teachers and other colleagues across the country.
Children and young people in remand custody, who are enrolled in a primary or upper secondary school in society, receive help to establish contact with the relevant school to continue their studies – you are the link between the student and the school.
Qualifications
In your role as a pedagogical supervisor, you are a skilled educator with the willingness and ability to motivate, inspire, and lead students to achieve their goals. You are clear and engaged in your work and have a good ability to create structure and systematic approaches. The work is carried out both independently and in close collaboration with colleagues, which is why good cooperation and initiative-taking skills are important qualities, as well as the ability to work independently.
For us, it is important that you share the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's fundamental values regarding a humane view of humanity, respect for the individual, and belief in a person's will and ability to develop. You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. Furthermore, you are expected to contribute through your approach to ensure that everyone is treated equally. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
We are looking for you who have:
- Upper secondary school diploma
- Experience working in pedagogical activities in upper secondary school and/or adult education
- Ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish
- Good computer skills and experience working with digital support systems
The following is also meritorious:
- Pedagogical education with a focus on school.
- Please attach your degree certificate to your application.
NOTE!
We will only hold interviews on-site at Östragård Prison on Friday, August 14th.
