We are now looking for an engaged violin teacher for El Sistema in Sundbyberg. The position is 80%.

About us

The Culture School is part of Culture Sundbyberg, the unit that works with culture for all ages. The Culture School includes a range of different artistic expressions such as music, dance, theatre, visual arts, game development, and circus. Through courses, open creative activities, holiday programs, and much more, the Culture School contributes to children and young people aged 4-20 in Sundbyberg and Solna having a meaningful leisure time.

As part of our mission to reach more children, we have been running El Sistema in the district of Rissne for ten years. El Sistema is based on the power of music to strengthen community, self-esteem, and identity – where the orchestra is the central meeting place.

As a violin teacher, you will work closely with your colleagues with students, grades F-6  at Grönkullaskolan, and their families according to El Sistema methods. The teaching takes place exclusively in groups. On Wednesdays, we hold family evenings where children meet with their families to play, sing, dance, and socialize.

Your duties include, in addition to teaching and family evenings, coordination, activity planning, administration, contact with students and parents, as well as contacts with Grönkullaskolan. El Sistema, as part of the Culture School, participates in various events and holiday activities.

In Sundbyberg, we apply holiday employment. Your working hours are primarily daytime on weekdays, except for family evenings and special events and performances. 

We want you to have a relevant music pedagogical degree in the subject of music teacher-violin.

To motivate students and collaborate with the children's families and school staff, teachers working with El Sistema are required to have a special commitment. Experience of working in regular schools is therefore desirable.

You should be interested in working from a social perspective with music as the primary tool and have experience working with groups. You should have the competence and ability to use song and movement in teaching to portray, teach, and also create new music or other artistic expressions together with the children. An interest in language development and communication is also desirable.

The position is a permanent part-time employment at 80% with a probation period of 6 months. Start date August 10th or as agreed.

A large part of our operations is classified as socially important operations. The position means that you may be included in Sundbyberg City's war organization.
