Workplace Description

At Gärdesskolan and Olaus Petri School, we continuously work to improve the pedagogical learning environment and develop collegial learning. We have a school culture characterized by high expectations. Our teaching is structured and varied, combining traditional learning materials with digital units. Our high merit value is proof that students achieve school success at Gärdesskolan. The merit value in grade 9 is one of the highest in the city.

The unit consists of two primary schools and one special needs primary school on Östermalm: Gärdesskolan (Grades F-9), the special needs primary school, and Olaus Petri School (Grades F-3). Together, we have approximately 650 students and 120 employees working towards the goal of a good school for all.

The special needs primary school at Gärdesskolan has recently undergone renovation to meet tomorrow's needs. In connection with this, the student capacity increases to 40 students. Currently, we have approximately 30 enrolled students studying both subjects and subject areas. Our classes in the special needs primary school are locally integrated and are part of the school's work teams, working inclusively based on the students' needs and abilities, taking advantage of natural meetings in the school's daily work. In teaching and after-school care, there is access to group rooms, teaching kitchens, sensory rooms, motor skills rooms, an atelier, and several schoolyards. In some practical-aesthetic subjects, teachers from the primary school teach. We have a combined school day with after-school care activities, and for our students over 12 years old, we offer short-term supervision. Short-term supervision and after-school care have their own premises. The staff working in the special needs primary school consists of special teachers, special educators, resource pedagogues, and teaching assistants. We have a student health service with all professions. We are in an expansion phase and are adding another class that studies subject areas.
