Sundbyberg Municipality is developing a central function with development teachers who support schools in targeted efforts to increase goal fulfillment and strengthen teaching quality. We are now looking for a development teacher with a focus on Swedish and/or Swedish as a second language.
This is a role for you who are a very skilled teacher and who is simultaneously driven by developing other teachers' instruction. The assignment is operationally close and involves working together with teachers and school management at various schools in the municipality to strengthen teaching and student results.
The interventions are carried out on behalf of the principal based on identified needs related to teaching and goal fulfillment.
About the role
As a development teacher, you work closely with teachers and school management in classrooms where student results need to be strengthened. The assignment is about developing teaching practice through concrete and long-term support to teachers and work teams.
You will, among other things:
- conduct teaching observations and analyze teaching and learning environments
- counsel teachers in planning, implementation, and follow-up of teaching
- model teaching and conduct teaching together with teachers
- contribute with teaching materials, working methods, and didactic tools
- analyze student work, results, and teaching practice to identify areas for development
- support the development of language, reading, and writing-enhancing teaching
- lead professional dialogues and contribute to collegial learning
- contribute to sustainable working methods that strengthen teachers' own teaching ability over time
- collaborate closely with the principal regarding follow-up and development efforts
You work together with the department's quality strategist, who focuses on process, structure, and organizational levels in close collaboration with school management. Together, you contribute to a consolidated and sustainable development work at the schools.
The assignment covers schools from preschool class to grade 9 as well as upper secondary school. Therefore, you need to be confident in meeting different teaching situations and adapting your support based on the operation's needs.
We are looking for you who
- are a certified teacher with eligibility in Swedish and/or Swedish as a second language
- have several years of experience in teaching with good results
- have very good didactic competence in language, reading, and writing development
- are skilled at creating relationships and building trust among colleagues
- have experience in counseling, collegial learning, or teaching development
- have a good ability to analyze teaching and translate analysis into concrete development work
- are confident in leading professional conversations and giving constructive feedback
- work independently, structured, and solution-oriented
You need to be confident in working closely with teachers in challenging teaching situations and be able to translate analysis into concrete teaching practice.
Qualifications
It is a requirement that you:
- are a certified teacher with eligibility in Swedish and/or Swedish as a second language
- have experience in counseling and supporting colleagues in teaching development
- have experience in school development, for example as a lead teacher, development teacher, or similar assignment
It is meritorious if you:
- have experience with language and knowledge-enhancing working methods
- have experience working with students in need of support or with low goal fulfillment
- have special educational needs competence or education
- have experience with observation and feedback on teaching
- have experience working closely with school management on development issues
- have experience with teaching in multilingual learning environments

The position is a permanent full-time employment with a central placement within Sundbyberg Municipality and assignments at various schools in the municipality. Start date according to agreement. Probation period may apply.
