Professor in Pedagogy with an Artistic Orientation

We are looking for you who want to work with teaching, research, and supervision at all levels within the subject unit Dance Pedagogy. Your main tasks will be within the subject teacher program in dance and the bachelor's program in dance pedagogy.

As a professor, you are a leader in pedagogical research in your artistic field. The quality of the operations is at the highest international level. You must have extensive scientific competence as well as a deep understanding of pedagogical work within your artistic field. You are expected to engage in and drive scientific research work and to critically reflect on the pedagogical processes involved in your teaching.

Tasks

Your tasks include teaching, supervising, and examining students within all the unit's programs and in students' independent works at undergraduate and advanced levels. You participate in the work of developing existing and new courses and programs in relation to other subject areas at SKH.

Your tasks also include:

• leading the development within dance pedagogy and following the societal development in general that is relevant to work within the university.
• working with research anchoring in all the unit's programs.
• creating opportunities for the development of research competence within the faculty.
• teaching pedagogy and didactics within dance.
• conducting research and development within dance pedagogy.
• conducting and leading practice-oriented research within ULF (Education, Learning and Research).
• working to enable students to develop an understanding of intersectional perspectives.
• working with course administration, driving the institutions' development work, and collaborating both internally within SKH and with external partners.
• contributing to the development of SKH's education and research and promoting integration between these.

You have an important role in building a common culture of openness and collaboration at SKH and in creating a good work environment. You may be offered assignments such as responsibility for independent courses at the advanced level and also be granted time for scientific research.

Qualifications

Eligible for appointment as a professor in pedagogy with an artistic orientation is one who has demonstrated both scientific and pedagogical proficiency.

Pedagogical proficiency at the professor level means having demonstrated pedagogical proficiency in artistic contexts within or outside the university, as well as the ability to develop, lead, and implement high-quality education at various levels. Pedagogical proficiency also implies experience of research-linked education at undergraduate and advanced levels, or equivalent proficiency demonstrated in artistic contexts outside the university. The concept of pedagogical proficiency also includes pedagogical commitment and a well-developed and written pedagogical foundation view.

Scientific proficiency means being a leader in one's scientific field and/or having conducted scientific research of the highest quality. The quality of the operations should be at the highest international level, with both deep and broad knowledge within one's scientific field. Scientific proficiency also implies a good ability to build up, lead, and develop current scientific areas, as well as a good ability to communicate knowledge about the field. In addition, scientific proficiency is demonstrated through high-quality and significant scientific publications within the current subject area, competitive research grants, initiation and leadership of research projects, research collaborations, collaboration assignments, contributions to the development of the subject area, and through assignments as opponent, expert, editor, or similar.

More about eligibility for employment as a teacher is also specified in Chapter 4, Sections 3–4 of the Higher Education Ordinance.

You must otherwise have the personal qualities needed to perform the employment well and to represent the university in a way that benefits the operations.

You need to be able to teach in both Swedish and English.

The tasks presuppose that you are active in scientific pedagogical research with an artistic orientation.

Evaluation Criteria

The following evaluation criteria will be assessed in order of priority and must be documented:

• Scientific doctoral degree in pedagogy with an artistic orientation.
• Pedagogical and scientific proficiency in pedagogy with an artistic orientation.
• Experience of teaching and supervising students within university/college at undergraduate and advanced levels.
• Experience of pedagogical work focusing on intersectional perspectives.
• Experience of conducting, leading, and publishing results from practice-oriented research.
• Experience of working in international contexts.
• Experience of different teaching and examination methods.
• Administrative proficiency.

About the Employment

The employment is a permanent position with a scope of 50 percent of full-time. Expected start date August 2027 or as agreed.
